I've been a busy little Dem
I got my taxes in today, and true to my word, I donated to the Democratic Party. That does make me a member, right? That's the impression I got anyway.

So y'all are looking at a brand spankin' new DNC member.

Next, I will sign up for the State Party. Just have to fill out the form and send it in.

Then I signed Reid's petition in support of Social Security.

Then I sent a webform email to Reid himself that read simply "Give 'em hell, Harry!"

Now I'm looking for Democratic swag. Where the HELL can I find a lapel pin or a pinback button with the kicking donkey design on it. Like the one that just bopped George on the head during donation week.

All the donkey pins I've seen so far are butt ugly. I like the kicking donkey from this last year. Anybody have an idea?

By the way, www.demband.com has Democrat wrist bands for sale, if anyone wants one.

It might have been silly of me, but I almost got verklempt right after I finished donating/joining the Party, like I'd struck a blow for democracy or something.

4. Have you changed your party affiliation on your voter registration?
That is what you have to do to officially be a Dem . I am not sure that just making a Donation on your tax form does that. I know it doesn't in my state. You have to register as a Dem. Check it out and congratulations!:grouphug: :toast: :yourock:

8. Nah, not in Wisconsin
It's pretty open. You can vote for either party, and you don't have to be registered as one or the other.

5. Join your local Dem Club
That's when I felt like I was really and truly an official Democrat, beyond someone who votes Democratic.

What a day though! :toast:

It links from the DNC site.
You have to follow the little arrows on each pic to see more. Cafe press has good stuff as well.

10. Good for you................
I plan to make a nice contribution to Chris Bell whose running for governor of Texas. Chris is the former congressman who filed the ethics complaint against Tom DeLay last summer. They'll be gunning for Chris and we need to stand up for him, the way he stood up for us.

BTW, we filed the first week of February. How long did it take for your return to come?

Mary

12. I just got done talking to the membership coordinator in my county
and he suggested that if I can't make one of their meetings, that I try and get on a committee.

I think I might join the newsletter committee and see if they can use my proofreading and writing skills.

The membership coord. sounded encouraging as far as how their numbers have been growing. They've set up a permanent office, one of only three or four counties to do so. He said he'd normally only get really involved with the party during election years, but everybody seems to realize we need to get ourselves going NOW.

So all that's left to do is send in my state money. And away we go, indeed!

15. You are on the MOVE!!! btw I LOVE that depiction of Kerry.
Everytime I've read your posts, it has impacted me. Why I resisted commenting on it,...maybe just 'cause I wanted to keep the impact all to myself.

It's like the modern day "thinker".

I want to get it and hang it.

17. Here's the artist info
"'JOHN KERRY, APRIL 1971,' by Elizabeth Peyton, Gavin Brown's Enterprise, 620 Greenwich Street, at Leroy Street, West Village, (212) 627-5258. Part of a portfolio of 14 works commissioned by Artforum magazine for its September issue.

I got it out of a depiction in the NYT just before the RNC.

So there's the number. Maybe they've come up with reproductions. I hope so. One of these days I want to call them and see.
