A fascist America
Good article here

A Fascist America
How close are we?
by Justin Raimondo

The idea that America is turning fascist has been popular on the Left for as long as I can remember: in the 1960s, when antiwar radicals raged against the Machine, this kind of hyperbole dominated campus political discourse and even made its way into the mainstream. When the radical Symbionese Liberation Army went into ultra-Left meltdown and began issuing incoherent "communiqués" to an indifferent American public, they invariably signed off by declaring: "Death to the fascist insect pig that preys on the life of the people!"

1. An excellent read. Thanks for finding this. Anyone who thinks *
will be reviled and despised if we have another terrorist attack needs to read this; I have no faith in the American people's ability to discern that Bush hasn't 'kept us safe' -- I expect they will fall into line even more with the fascists, as an abused spouse clings to her abuser. It's horrifying to watch. So many people in my office will march straight off into hell behind these neocons. I have yet to figure out why, except to guess that they cannot admit to themselves that the America they grew up with is going, going, gone. They cling to the illusion and do anything to keep it alive, including cleaving to whatever the govt says is so, even when it's clearly a lie. Can it just be the fear that 9/11 engendered in so many people? For me, I cannot imagine living so full of fear that I throw my American citizenship and rights in the garbage, but other people obviously think it's an OK tradeoff.
