Went to South Bend, In to protest the Shrub's visit yesterday!

It was a small but vocal group. One thing I wanted to tell you is that when the event let out, the shrubbites came over to stand across the street from us. They tried to intimidate us and stuff but mostly seemed perplexed by us, I guess.

At one point they started chanting "USA...USA..USA" and I yelled at them that just because we are against the idiot, does not mean we are against our country. I said something like "we aren't against America and I started shouting "USA...USA...USA back at them. Several people near me joined in and we out shouted them. They shut up. They either didn't know how to respond to "us" shouting USA or they didn't want to feed us to keep saying it, but they quit shouting it.

I think it's a great answer when they accuse us of being unamerican and unpatriotic. We are not. We love our country too. We just happen to want the proud America back.

on edit: let me thank dray178355 for posting that shrub was coming to South Bend and sending me good directions that I failed to follow. Nice to meet a fellow Duer and she introduced me to yet another Duer.

6. I was there as well, from Ft. Wayne
Those students were great! They had such energy. I was glad to be a part of it. I hope that Shrub gets more of the same everywhere he goes on his sixty lies in sixty days campaign. I checked the online version of the South Bend tribune to see if there was any mention of it and couldn't find any, although there was a lot of hoopla about "welcoming" the pResident.

The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette had a similar article, but it included a brief mention of the protest 3/4 of the way through.
