excellent website for news and analysis on foreign affairs
www.globalpolitician.com

from the about page:

About GP

The Global Politician is an independent journal of politics, economics and world affairs. It is an analytical, insightful and critical journal that publishes articles, interviews, book reviews and academic research papers.

Much of the information you will find in Global Politician is either ignored or glossed-over by media sources such as CNN and BBC. We do so by presenting new facts about known issues or by writing about events that are not commonly understood. This is especially true of the GP Report, which presents issues from around the world that usually lack media attention.

The journal is intended to be academic and non-biased. However, we do not believe that objectivity means supporting all sides equally, and our writers do support or oppose policies and politicians when circumstances require such. In fact, it is our belief that claiming that all sides have an equal claim is often not only wrong, but also ignorant.

Global Politician allows its writers to express opinions that differ from that of the Editors. We believe that by presenting different view-points, we allow the readers to understand all sides of the story.

Having said that, we do not publish outright propaganda, advertizement or even pure opinion columns. All our articles must provide actual knowledge, evidence, statistics and data, even if only to back up the authors opinion.

2. Thank you! Interesting articles, appears to be a publishing site
for scholars, as many but not all articles are by authors with a PhD by their name. Looks like a good resource! Thanks for this.

3. In light of Fenton's new book "Bad News", I started looking....
for a goo, truthful, unbiased site to understand world events better since the Main Stream does such a horrible job at it by leaving out background perpective on issues and events....one of Fenton's main charges.

I love the one line from the "about GP" page:

"we do not believe that objectivity means supporting all sides equally, and our writers do support or oppose policies and politicians when circumstances require such. In fact, it is our belief that claiming that all sides have an equal claim is often not only wrong, but also ignorant."

One of the most eloquent critiques of "fair and balanced" I've ever read! It truly is a corrupting agent in our current discourse when presenting equal time overshadows presenting factual analysis.

5. Good point - the false premise that lies should be "balanced" with truth
was the reason why, for example, the Swift Boat Liars got so much serious treatment, which in turn convinced many of their legitimacy.

I'm looking forward to going through the articles at this site. They appear to have a high frequency of them, with several new ones each day.

Again, thanks!

7. I guess I missed that part about "all sides have an equal claim".
Where is that?

4. Nice site
Don't forget to take their SS poll. So far 63% people say no and 31% say yes. :)

6. Thank you, kindly, for sharing that alternative site.
I've just peeked at it. However, the site does seem to have the goal of publishing a variety of perspectives that don't merely advance "corporacrats". I'll add it to my "favorites".
