What's the Democratic plan for social security? Answer here!
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 04:53 PM by senseandsensibility
The Democratic plan for social security is called....Social Security.

You see, Mr. and Mrs. Repuke, the plan that allows your parents to live at home in dignity instead of in YOUR home was written and passed by DEMOCRATS. It the most successful and popular government program ever and costs virtually nothing to administer. It was passed against repuke wishes and the repukes have been trying to kill it ever since. It is OUR plan, it is not in crisis, and it WORKS.

The Democratic plan is to continue the wonderful Social Security plan that we all know and love. In addition, we are willing to do what is necessary to fix the minor problems that will occur many years from now. We know how to do that, too. Unlike the repukes, we keep our promises.

A famous DEMOCRAT promised Social Security to our impoverished seniors sixty odd years ago. He kept his promise. Contrast that with chimp's promises to create millions of jobs, not blow the budget, find WMD, and unite the country. That should give you something to think about.

WE NEED TO SCREAM FROM THE ROOFTOPS THAT SOCIAL SECURITY is OUR plan. The average 'murican doesn't even know that. Why is our side so bad at taking credit for anything?

1. Bingo!
Great response, I intend to use it. Thank you!

GWB yesterday in New Jersey:

"I like doing this, by the way - I like going around the country, saying, 'Folks, we have got a problem.' "

...just like "Weapons of Mass Destruction"?

3. Why don't those bush-loving seniors who voted for him
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 05:32 PM by bushwentawol
surrender their social security $$ and take the burden off the system?
End their Medicare coverage too. After all no one's entitled to free health care in this country.

4. The hypocrisy
and stupidity among the * followers is just mind boggling, isn't it? I mean, even by their incredibly ill-informed, messed up standards, it is just mind boggling! They are so brainwashed that they will vote against their own interests.

8. Yes they will vote against their own interests.
Just like the bushbots who've cried for years about the evils of unions and union dues going to the Democratic Party. But nary a one will refuse those things that people have fought and died for; empoyee health insurance or pensions for example.

5. Harry Reid has made an offer: "Take privatization off the table..."
"If you take privatization off the table, we'll be happy to sit down and talk about the future," Mr. Reid said.

6. Who else likes Reid's style
so far? He's been good on social security, and I loved it when he called Greenspan a hack.

7. Are you not the least bit concerned that any "compromise"...
will involve the $1.7T trust fund shortfall being taken out of the collective hide of the middle class? And make no mistake, the dems would be blamed for it.

9. Yes
I suppose I am, but I didn't interpret Reid's comments that way. I only meant that he is better than expected and stronger than Daschle. But my opinion is there should be no compromise, and we should make the repukes pay for what they've suggested so far. We have a depressing track record of NOT being able to take advantage of *'s missteps, but I haven't given up hope completely on this one.

10. Dubya will not give up on privatization. He is convinced he is a master
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 07:36 PM by flpoljunkie
of the big con. If he persists, this will be his downfall.

Dubya is becoming pathetically more incoherent as the numbers for his handling of Social Security continue to go south...

From the Bamboozlepalooza event in New Jersey ...

This is a retirement account we're talking about. But it's your money, and the interest off that money goes to supplement the Social Security check that you're going to get from the federal government. See, personal accounts is an add-on to that which the government is going to pay you. It doesn't replace the Social Security system. It is a part of making -- getting a better rate of return, though, so -- to come closer to the promises made. That's important to know.

13. He's far from the master of the con
His communication skills suck. But with the media in his pocket, and the big money behind him, it's dangerous to underestimate the turd.
