MSNBC: It was probably Sgrena's fault -- they didn't stop at checkpoint...
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:43 AM by Julius Civitatus
This morning a checked the infamous Imus show in MSNBC (yeah, I know, I shouldn't). They were discussing the shooting of the Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena. They had a young correspondent from the ground in Iraq telling us all we need to know about the incident.

This young reporter, Peter Alexander (who I've never seen before on MSNBC or anywhere else) told us that their car was probably speeding and that they probably ran through a checkpoint without even stopping at the request of the American soldiers. These check point shootings happen on a regular basis. And the Italians probably didn't even coordinate with the US. He also told us how dangerous it is in Iraq, yadda, yadda. Nothing to see here, move along, basically.

Earlier Imus had another MSNBC correspondent, Tom Aspell, to say basically the same things.

Imus and his extremely unlikeable hosts made some silly comments, had a few yucks, and indeed moved along.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3226997/

These two reporters lumped all these excuses together:

- The Italians didn't stop at the checkpoint
- They refused to follow directions from US soldiers
- They were speeding through checkpoints
- They didn't coordinate with the US forces anyway

They didn't offer the other side of the story, or mention the fact that the testimony of the surviving witnesses to this shooting directly contradicts all their excuses:

- The Italians had already stopped at the airport checkpoint
- They followed directions from US soldiers at checkpoint
- They were NOT speeding
- They DID coordinate with the US forces (the Italian prime minister was on top of this)

The MSM covering for Junior's messes, once again.

Revolting

15. MSNBC hiding McCain Cablevision story
Meanwhile, MSNBC is trying to protect John McCain by hiding the story of his suspect donations from Cablevision from their website. He lobbied for their pricing changes to the industry and congress which hurts consumers.

If it was Kerry it would grace their home page...MSNBC digusting GOP bias makes me sick to my stomach!!!!

4. Sickening
And that light bulb head Bernie Migirk or what ever the hell his name is...what was the first words out of his noxious pie-hole?

"And don't forget, she wrote for a COMMIE newspaper".

So, I guess it's OK then to pump about 400 rounds into her vehicle.

This story stinks to high heaven.

SOMETHING is going on here.

6. Was just thinking, if the car had stopped at the checkpoint, it wouldn't
have taked 400 rounds AND they would have made sure they get everyone in the car is the likely outcome.

Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:54 AM by Julius Civitatus
The guy is basically a neonazi, and he only opens his yapper to say the most hateful, openly racist, ignorant, and divisive things possible.

This is allowed in mainstream broadcast TV. And as a fascist, he sure looks the part:

9. This alone sounds weird, but coupled with the CNN employee who stated
troops firing at reporters, makes you wonder. It should be fully investigated. Stephanie Miller this am was saying they won't produce the car-what is that about?

The US officials there are claiming the car has been "lost."

13. So, where were the "embedded reporters"?
If this were true, they'd have the footage.

Remember the days when Bush thought it would be a great idea to have the cameras following our glorious and angelic troops to document the righteousness of the cause?

17. One thing I noticed
ABC had a report on this last night, with an aerial map of the area where this happened, and the road to the airport helpfully highlighted in yellow. Unfortunately, no one at ABC News (apparently) knew where the checkpoints were on the road, or where the shooting of the vehicle took place, because they weren't indicated on the graphic.

Seems a rather pertinent piece of information, don't you think?

Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 01:41 PM by Julius Civitatus
becuase she worked for a "communist rag"? They have all agreed to take Karl Rove's marching orders and discredit Giulianna... completely ignoring she's recovering from a gunshot wound in her shoulder, and that an Italian secret agent is dead.

These people have no shame whatsoever. And Joe McCarthy would be so, so proud!

24. PROBABLY this and PROBABLY that....then how in the hell did
the Italian's AIRCRAFT land on the runway?!?!?! When some asswipe starts spouting this crap, SOMEONE needs to come back with "well, explain to me then how the Italians landed a private aircraft at Baghdad airport without SOMEONE in the upper echelons KNOWING why they were there, and relaying that fact to the checkpoints that the freed Italian hostage was on the way?" Also "explain then how ANY vehicle, if we give you the fact that it was an unknown approach, can get WITHIN 700 YARDS OF THE AIRPORT WITHOUT HAVING PASSED THROUGH A SINGLE OTHER PREVIOUS CHECKPOINT,which having assumed they passed through previous checkpoints, it would have been passed along that a freed hostage has cleared Checkpoint Charlie007????"

NONE of the stories by the US are even close to believable...

25. MSNBC is Bush propaganda, nothing more.
An article on how MSNBC programs:

Donahue {was} described as "a tired, left-wing liberal out of touch with the current marketplace."

The study went on to claim that Donahue presented a "difficult public face for NBC in a time of war......He seems to delight in presenting guests who are anti-war, anti-Bush and skeptical of the administration's motives." The report went on to outline a possible nightmare scenario where the show becomes "a home for the liberal antiwar agenda at the same time that our competitors are waving the flag at every opportunity."

Luckily they have almost no viewers:

MSNBC: Total day: 228,000 -- Primetime: 382,000 :D
