Sen. Inouye (D-Hawaii) on floor now promoting ANWR development
CSPAN2 right now

"Listen to the Indians" he said.

He followed Kerry who gave stats on environmental pollution and fines incurred by oil companies in AK the past few years.

1. So who'll be the first to say that
all Dems are weak because of him?

2. I'll be the first to say that Inouye is weak.
I'll also say in this instance he's a real prick.

4. Both Hawaii Senators always have supported drilling ANWR
I've never quite understood why (or perhaps I've merely forgotten), since they otherwise have rather good environmental track records.

7. Weak's not a good word for Inouye or Akaka.
They're standing up to the party under intense backstage pressure. It's not exactly in our best interest, but it's not weakness.

10. Akaka has been our progressive Dems best ally. Inouye has been
less supportive lately. They are definitely voting for some interest Hawaii has in the pipeline. Maybe it's what other poster said, that the workers will vacation in Hawaii...but if they are the only two then that's really bad. I hope they will change their mind.

6. hawaii is rich in alternative energy...totally devoid of oil.......
hawaii is a very sunny and windy place, lots of wave and tide action, a huge reservoir of alternative energy, but senator Inouye and his buddy Senator Akaka have done practically NOTHIN AT ALL to see that Hawaii can use all of its wealth of natural energy.

therefore Hawaii is entirely dependent on imported oil....oil...oil.

Plus during the alaska pipeline hawaii made tons of money off of workers who took breaks from alaska to vacation in Hawaii, and many people from Hawaii had pipeline jobs. I am certain Mr. Inouye sees a reapeat of this money making.

(Don’t blame me, I voted for Howard).
