New web site - 59millionstrong.com for those that voted Kerry/Edwards
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 12:50 AM by quinnox
Just happened to find this site tonight, it is new to me. Has anyone else seen it?

Some info from it:

On November 2, 2004, over 59,000,000 Americans voted for Kerry/Edwards—and against the current administration.

Today, we're frustrated and angry over the direction of our great nation. But now, it's time to turn that anger into action.

Through 59 Million Strong™, you don't need to wait four more years to fight for a stronger America. You can take action in a variety of ways—right here, right now.

5. Guess you can add the 70,000,000 that did not vote at all to that number.
Well, some of them, anyway.

7. For sure, you can add
my developmentally disabled daughter who cannot vote. She would have voted for Kerry/Edwards.

8. Why couldn't she vote?
Why can't people who are disabled vote? Surely they can have someone help them couldn't they? :\ That's not right.

9. In most states persons who need to be
under the protection of a guardian (which is me, her mother) are not allowed to vote. There are some reasons for that: She cannot talk, read, indicate a preference. She needs total care from tube feeding and diapering to financial assistance. She is not capable of making decisions. They could allow the guardian to vote for the wards but I think then we would have to worry about political parties sending in ringers. At any rate she does not have a vote and most of her friends are in the same situation. And this is in progressive Minnesota!

I would be interested in knowing just exactly how many disabled citizens are in this situation? We know what percentage of people voted so what percent of the non-voters are like my daughter? What are other reasons people lose the right to vote?
