Judiciary Committee quashes Gannon probe

Judiciary Committee quashes Democrats’ effort to demand credentialing info on ‘Gannon’
RAW STORY

The House Judiciary Committee voted against adopting a resolution demanding Bush agencies turn over all credentialing information related to James D. Guckert 21-10, the discredited conservative reporter and prostitute who wrote under the nom de guerre “Jeff Gannon.”

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the ranking Democrat on the committee, said the resolution was imperative to ensuring that the line between reporters and activists remains clear.

“If we don’t investigate this matter thoroughly,” Conyers said, “where and when will be draw the line? I plead with my committee members in the Judiciary to support this very plain but necessary .”

F. James Sensenbrenner, chairman of the committee, said he felt that “the Administration, in my opinion, has substantially investigated this matter.”

“The Secret Service has determined that Mr Guckert did not pose a danger to the President or his family,” Sensenbrenner said.

Sensenbrenner outlined his opposition to the measure in terms of not wanting to interfere with “competing investigations” by the Administration he said were already underway.

“I would reiterate the fact that the Administration has substantially complied with the request for information,” the Wisconsin Republican said.Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said the matter demanded an investigation. It “cries out for a House investigation,” she said. “I frankly believe that this is no less serious than my colleagues thought the Clinton investigation was to them.”

4. Not corrupt - weak and cowardly
They're cowardice in confronting the marginalization of their power is actually quite funny. They're afraid of the backlash should they pursue this matter. They're turning the other cheek, not out of a desire to propagate further deceptions but because they are too afraid to challenge the Admin. Don't assume collusion when it's obvious they're afraid of collision.

2. Turn on ESPN right now.
And see what Congress considers to be important enough to hold hearings on.

Shameful.

5. Yup, a pre-emptive war to secure oil fields, an outing of a CIA agent,
lies to the American people, untold millions going to the coffers of Halliburton and others, torture in Iraq and Gitmo, use of napalm in Iraq, skyrocketing oil prices, billions to Pharma/Banking, and other untold catastrophes brought on by this admin - and they are investigating steriods in baseball.

Hopefully these fuckers will rot in hell for eternity.

8. Next it will be hearings on whether Michael Jackson
got a fair trial or not. Anything to fill up time before the Chimperor departs.

3. That's just GREAT! (sarcasm)
OIC---The Republicans don't want to investigate a planted male prostitute--with no journalistic credentials--lobbing softball questions at the president during White House press briefings.

HOWEVER--they do want to talk about baseball for several days.

Lovely. Just frickin lovely.

6. There MUST be some other way to get this information
about how this man got his credentials. BushCo uses illegal means to do what they want to do so Dems will have to learn to use "whatever means necessary."

10. We have to keep screaming about this, We have to keep it an issue.
I am dumbfounded, what the hell? Do they think, that they will be voted back in? For what? Are they representing us, or just getting along with GOPers? I actually had a conversation with a RW Freeper, that told me that Joe Lieberman was a great idea for Presidential Candidate for Democrats, that is how bad it is.

Jeezus, when are these people going to grow a backbone? I wonder how many of their constituents asked their senator to cut their throats on the Bankruptcy bill.

My Senator wrote back to me, stated that the bill was not perfect, and would have wished to add ammendments to it. But... WTF? there should be no BUTS, Keep fighting until it is perfected, what the hell are you there for??

Roll over and have your tummy scratched, lapdogs.
