Every time I read about something like this I grow more perplexed at the people who voted for Bush. God forbid they cracked a f'ing book and read about the backgrounds of the people they are voting for- the neocons are pretty big fans of Strauss?

Strauss, the advocate of deception, because the masses couldn't handle the truth? The advocate of a state-imposed religion to keep the masses in line- but only for the masses; "rulers" should be immune?

I just want to go back to bed.

1. Next assignment, look up the PNAC and how they wanted a
"New Pearl Harbor" to put into action the very things that are transpiring as we type. Read all about how these plans were in place by them pre-911, and how that event just so convieniently happened just as they wished.

What else does one need to know?

7. Interesting reading
My guess is that Bush himself is a disciple of Strauss.

The part about using religion as a tool to control the population is far more cynical than anything I've ever read in Marx. At least comrade Charlie gave credit to the comforting aspects of organized religion as he decried its use by the powers that be.

8. I doubt that, personally
I don't think that the stammering, distracted, emotionally unchecked idiot at the podium giving a "press conference" the other morning is capable of thought that sophisticated. It's the slime around him that does the heavy lifting.

9. Harper's had an article
June 2004 issue, "Ignoble Liars" Leo Strauss, George Bush and the philosophy of mass deception

The odd thing is that they way the public is being played is in black and white. Why people refuse to believe it is beyond me.
