Excellent question for your RW friends on GOP's plan to "reform" SS
"Imagine that you are the richest person on Earth; you are worth $230 billion. You turn all your wealth over to an investment advisor, and ask him to manage it. In the space of just four years, he not only squanders your entire fortune, but he manages to put you $400 billion in debt.

"He then approaches you with his scheme for your retirement account. What would you say?"

1. As if they'd understand what you're talking about
My guess is you'd get the same look a dog has while watching a card trick.

Doesn't make the question untrue, though.

2. "How does taking money out for stocks
solve the fact that there isn't enough money there already?"

That's the question that stops them cold.

3. Excellent question. Neither Bush nor a stock broker would ever lie, right?

4. around here, some people who voted Bush are feeling betrayed
I've heard more than once, "I didn't vote for him to let him take away my Social Security!" I'm polite and don't respond by saying, "Well, you fell for the phoney argument that gay marriage would somehow destroy yours, so Bush figured you'd swallow more of his bilge water."

5. I wouldn't be so polite myself,
but then I don't recall anyone felling betrayed by *, at least no one that would tell me as much. Around here they voted for him because he will end all abortions, put prayer back in schools and make gays go far, far away, all of it in Jesus' name. Never mind that none of that has happened; they've all divorced themselves from reality and would never notice anyway.

6. I'd reduce the analogy to the average American's "nest egg",....
,...saved over twenty to forty years in a cookie jar.

Then, suddenly, you are visited by your "father" (pResident) who stays overnight. The next morning you discover he stole your "nest egg" and he left a note in your cookie jar, which reads: "You owe me $26,000 for being my child (a citizen under my rule). I have made certain through "new law" that I can collect that debt from anything you make over your lifetime." "Love, Your Daddy"

7. Hey, I like that one too!
I say we need as many possible talking points as we can find.

Thank you!

Makes me wonder if a certain other website is down or something . . .
