He really Nailed it, commenting on the NRA's stupid opposition to "Watch Lists" for Terrorists, the Pentagon's inability to hold anyone responsible for Abu Gareb, and the "Mafia Cops" in the NYPD

15. I was going though the Daily Show On-line Video's to see if it ...
...was there yet, (it's not) but I did find a Classic Steven Colbert from last summer at <http://www.comedycentral.com/mp/play.jhtml?reposid=/multimedia/tds/colb/colbert_8002.html&setplayer=real_media>

called "I'm with Stupid". Their are a lot of good ones, but this one, he is interviewing a Nobel prize winning scientist, and then another guy who tries to say, "he's not so smart," but then SC starts ridiculing him by asking him, "how many Nobel Prizes have you won?"

Ya gotta see it to appreciate it.

6. The Navy guy's comments were the definition of absurd...
not just the definition of accountability, as Black said. If anyone can capture the video, post it.

7. Here's what vice admiral said at press conference...
apparently concerning Abu Ghraib:

Vice Admiral Albert Church:
"I don't think that you can hold anybody accountable in a situation that maybe if you had done something different, maybe something different would have occurred."

???

Black's Response: "If I'm not mistaken, that's the very DEFINITION of accountability!"

I didn't catch the date of that press conference with the admiral.

10. Saw it ... thank goodness for Lewis Black ...
Otherwise that, sadly, would have never been noticed by the general public. The whole rant was ingenious tonight -- Lew was ON. I love his comedy anyway, but tonight he was especially good.

12. Found it!
The Quote is about half way down the page (about 25 minutes into the video) He actually says it twice in the same paragraph.

Now, to your second question, missed opportunities. Missed opportunities I think probably you can equate to lessons learned. These are things that had something been -- you know, in perfect hindsight, had something been done different then there may have been a different outcome. But I don't think you can hold anybody accountable for a situation that maybe if you had done something different, maybe something would have occurred differently. It's a lesson learned that we need to capture and think about for the future.

19. They usually do a 7:00pm EST re-play here in the East
I'm not sure what time it runs out west.

Then they usually replay it again on Monday at 10:00am and 7:00pm and then after the new Monday show at 11:30pm and 1:30am (all EST), but they don't really give notice when they change the schedule.:bounce:

21. Director of the Navy Staff Vice Adm. Albert T. Church on accountability
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 09:14 AM by paineinthearse
Sometimes fake news isn't. The accountability quote used by Black is at the end.

Director of the Navy Staff Vice Adm. Albert T. Church III author of the "Review of DoD Detention Operations and Detainee Interrogation Techniques," known more widely as the "Church Report,' briefs reporters in the Pentagon on March 10, 2005. Joining Church were three other experts on the topic including Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Detainee Affairs Mathew Waxman, Army Director for Human Intelligence Thomas Gandy and Army Deputy Provost Marshal General Col. Pete Champagne. DoD photo by R. D. Ward. (Released)
