What chicanery is the "Steroids Issue" distracting us from?
Any time the thugs put on a big media circus show like the baseball/steroid hearings, it makes me wonder what sneaky stuff they are doing behind the scenes.

Is it the budget? Social Security? Iraq? Judicial appointments? Something else they want to keep below the media radar?

"Watch the shiny coin as it goes back and forth, American people. Back... and forth... back.... forth. You are getting sleepy. You will pay attention to the steroid hearings. You will not notice the budget amendments we are trying to sneak through Congress .... back... forth... steroids bad ... keep your eyes on the shiny coin.... you will remember nothing when you wake up."

1. Right before Bush invades some other country
my neighborhood sort of "quakes". I don't live on a fault line. It's the local military practicing bombing maneuvers. Last night, they were BUSY, or should I say BIZZZZZEEEEE. I thought I was having some sort of heart attack one time, they were making so much of a vibration. Not much noise other than the booms, but the vibrations were dismal. I pity whoever Bush is in a snit with right now.

3. Dear God!
I hope it's not another war. I hadn't thought of that possibility.

4. The MSM is really pushing us to get interested in this!
Sometimes I think it's the press that decides what we're interested in. And we're all too willing to go along.

5. I hate to think what Bush is up to
Our local NBC affiliate carried Mark McGwire's testimony (at least, and maybe more) live. St. Louis (or at least St. Louis media) is apparently FASCINATED by McGwire...even when he doesn't say a damn thing. :eyes:

I've been considering sending an email to the station asking why they're wasting airtime on this meaningless crap.

(I'm not saying that steroid use is ok, but live coverage? of Congressional hearings on it?)

6. Same thought here !
When I seen the baseball steriod story as the leading "news" stroy of the day ,I was just amazed at just how bad our news media has become .With young U.S. men and women dying everyday ,and many others ,not one mention of Iraq or many other much more important stories ,that maybe looked upon as a negative story on this idiot in office !!! Its so sad that our new media has regressed to being at its worst, when the technology for reporting stories and their ability to cover situations as they develope are in place, however unused ,because I believe evrything must now be approved and censored !

7. It's union busting plain and simple
The repubs know that rich spoiled baseball players have no sympathy from the general public. Senator Bunning (R, KY) flat out said it in his statement. The collective bargaining agreement left no room to allow for testing. Therefore the labor laws need to be changed. They'll try to push that through and say it is because of baseball cheaters. In addition to this they wish to make drug testing mandatory for every high school student, and curt schilling (the obvious administration shill) came right out and said that positive test results should be made public which opens the door to prosecution of anyone who tests positive for drugs. This has nothing to do with baseball and everything to do with control of the middle-class working union member.

8. Next step on the slippery slope, indeed....
We've got millions of workers peeing in cups all over this country, most for low paying jobs. Big Brother would love to start throwing the proles in jail for smoking some weed on the weekends, or denying them all manner of aid based on these tests.

9. Wait! Tomorrow's the second anniversary...
of our adventure in Iraq. Funny, I haven't heard that mentioned on CNN. Is it just another Weapon of Mass Distraction?
