3. Can he not understand the difference in supporting a war and

supporting the troops?
No one at any of these rallies thinks the troops are at fault - they are just doing the job doled out to them by the fascist Bush regime. They are under orders to do this job and no one BLAMES the troops for complying with both military law and sworn duty.
However, we cannot support a war that unnecessarily put your son and others in harm's way. There were no WMDs, the Iraqi people didn't ask us to get rid of Saddam for them and they simply don't want us there.
Tell him this: war protestors of this era are actually SUPPORTING him by NOT supporting this illegal war. We have his and his unit's best interests at heart because he and his friends should not be dying to secure Bush's oil lust.

Maybe you can get through to him that way. It's worth a shot.

5. "Can he not understand that we support troops but not war?"
Of course YOU understand that this is all about spinning the obvious---make the war protesters look like the criminals instead of the administration who started this immoral, illegal invasion of a sovereign country. Don't back down from that argument. Bush and Co. need to be labeled un-American and unpatriotic and terrorists. Because they are.

10. When is the US going to pay reparations to Iraq, eg for
the destruction of the modern city of Fallujah? The use by the US military of napalm and enriched uranium shells (reported by an Iraqi official and numerous others) which will cause Iraqi people to die from the effects of radiation for thousands of years to come? The destruction of antiquities? The US$80m stolen from Iraq first by Saddam and then by the US occupiers when they found it in his palaces?

For starters.

Dear Americans, the social security thing could be a massive distraction: while you are all shroud-waving about it (and I would probably do the same in your place), seen from outside the US it really looks as if your civilisation is collapsing: all the values for which America used to stand, for the past 50-70 years, seem to have become necrotic. Your politicians still talk about freedom and liberty and democracy and justice etc etc but it is just a smokescreen of words. The Republican administration is a collection of indecently greedy, cruel, dangerously unaccountable, racist and ignorant peasants (I mean, at heart): like American Ceausescus. You HAVE GOT to identify and capture the moral high ground, if your society is not going to implode altogether and become bankrupt within your own or your children's lifetime.

4. Do you think the MSM will recognize this anniversary?
After all, if it isn't on CNN, it never happened.

6. I think we could call and call and call to ask where the coverage IS - and
I'll bet the world press covers it if turnout is impressive.

8. bump
If I disappear
it is because I am protesting an unjust war.

If I disappear
it is because I oppose the current regime.

If I disappear
it is because Dubya or Alberto or one of their minions say I no longer have any rights.

If I disappear
it is because I am now speaking out against fascism.

If I disappear
Be afraid – you have read this and may be next.

GREENS PLAN AND JOIN RALLIES AND ACTIONS ACROSS THE U.S. IN THE MARCH 19 'GLOBAL DAY OF PROTEST' AGAINST THE IRAQ WAR

Military threats against Iran and Syria risk a greater war between the U.S. and Middle East, warn Greens.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party members across the country will participate in the 'Global Day of Protest' against the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, planned for Saturday, March 19, the second year anniversary of the invasion.

"The Green Party of the United States took a strong position against the invasion from the very beginning," said Rebecca Rotzler, Deputy Mayor of the Village of New Paltz, New York (see event listing below). "We opposed the vote by Democrats and Republicans in Congress to surrender the legislative branch's power to declare war to the White House, warning of massive violation of national and international law."
