Martinez Says He Traded Alaska to Protect Florida

- Sen. Mel Martinez cast the deciding vote Wednesday to approve oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, saying he traded his vote for a pledge from the Bush administration to extend drilling bans off Florida's Gulf Coast for an additional five years.

5. Mel is a sleaze-ball
I kept close watch on his campaign here in Florida (he narrowly won against a family friend of mine, Betty Castor), and he sunk to the most unbelievable levels in running his incredibly negative campaigns. But I guess that's the kind of thing that Republicans like. Disgusting.
