Announcing the Sixth Annual David W. Curtis Leadership Awards dinner celebrating the life and spirit of the former Vermont Democratic Chair whose fight for under-represented Vermonters continues to inspire us all today. The Curtis Awards Dinner is the largest annual gathering of Democrats with over 300 people attending in years past.

Howard Dean and Ann Lewis will speak at the event.

His remarks are expected to focus on "getting out the vote and getting people involved to revitalize the party," according to Roger King, media spokesperson for Democrats Abroad (Canada), which has a membership of about 4,000 people. As many as 100 people are expected to attend the convention, which will also include sessions by Mark Brewer, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party and Alice Germound, executive secretary for the DNC.

4. Central Florida could use him, too.
Did you see Scott Maddox stepped down as chair, and will run for state-wide office next year? Probably governor.

After Jim Davis's vote on the bankruptcy bill, I am not happy with him. I am cautious about Rod Smith's connection to the Florida Mainstream Democrats, which sounds like they are adopting GOP stances.

wow where have I been. I hope Dean and DFA support him well, I remember that he was the first ones to support Dean as DNC Chair and when he was in the primaries I think.

There has really not been much coverage of it. I am surprised. I got it in an email from the Florida Dems.

He is one of the founders of Blue State Digital, along with Joe Rospars and some other Dean campaign staff. The Vanderbilt bio says he is still with them.

The DLC just has policy ideas I agree with.

Now, if you want this thread to turn into yet another DLC flame fest, I'll just point out (as usual) that an anti-DLC'er threw the first punch (as usual.)

We see where such philosophy has gotten Democrats.

Echoed on DU for several years: "Why doesn't______________ fight back!"

Sorry. No one is going to be anyone's whipping boy.

31. Grassroots Dems didn't care either
but we didn't matter one wit to the likes of Terry anyhow....

Seems some Dems are sorry to see new leadership who DOES care about the little people. Funny how that works. Ironic even.

Yes, even "grassroots" dems.

And no, nothing in my posts say or imply that I, or any Dems, don't support our leadership.

But I do realize that such a suggestion interfers with the victim mentality.

33. Nonsense
Never even heard of Terry coming to my state, anywhere in state, that's how big an event it was (not).

It was your remarks about Naderites that drew my comment about those who are dissatisfied. It seemed to me that you were implying only the fringe didn't get into Terry. No vicitm mentality here but thanks for throwing in the right-wing meme.

Never even heard of Terry coming to my state, anywhere in state, that's how big an event it was (not).

So Michigan is the big test of the DNC chair's worth? And because you don't recall him being there, that negates my statement, "he drew crowds everywhere he went?" Perhaps you weren't paying attention?

Honestly, I don't recall which states many of the DNC chairs who have served in my lifetime (including Donnie Fowler, David Wilhelm, and Steve Grossman) have gone to or how big the event was - but here's a clue for you: WHENEVER the DNC chair comes to a Democratic party event, it is a BIG event.

I do seem to recall a McAuliffe trip to Michigan in early 2001.

It was your remarks about Naderites that drew my comment about those who are dissatisfied.

And it was your left wing typical slam on the DLC that started this whole melee.

It seemed to me that you were implying only the fringe didn't get into Terry.

It seemed to me that you were implying NO ONE respected Terry - which couldn't be further from the truth. In Dem circles, his fundraising skills are legendary and he drew large crowds.

No vicitm mentality here but thanks for throwing in the right-wing meme.

Plenty of it with there. And calling it a "rightwing meme" doesn't make it so.

38. as do you
So you're a DLCer who doesn't like critics eh? Well too bad. It's the DLC mind-set we have to thank for our current address: 101 Political Wilderness lane, Nowheresville USA.

So you're a faux "grassroots" leftist who doesn't like critics, eh? Well, too bad. It's the far leftist "more liberal than thou" mind-set we have to thank for our current address: 101 Political Wilderness lane, Nowheresville USA.

But by golly thanks to Terry we can raise as much money as the Rethugs! We can't win shit but we can raise money!! Hooray for money!!!!

Again, the typical "can't win" line from the leftist only when it suits you. Otherwise, we get "The elections are being stolen."

And still we wait for any conclusive evidence beyond your imagination that the DLC is responsible for any losses.

Well friend, all I can offer you as consolation is this: While you will take many a shot from DUers (unwashed masses) for your love of the DLC, the admins will let you get away with murder, as evidenced by your survival of primary season. Apparently no matter what you post, you'll always have a home here and you can probably thank your DLC allegiance for that. Enjoy!

What's so funny about this final passage is that it is the "leftist more liberal than thou" who treats traditional moderate Democrats as the great unwashed. Has happened time and time again.

And now I see that there is a feeling that the admins here are in on some "conspiracy" in which they favor the DLC. Too funny!

terry is old news and certainly anyone would be the first to admit the strategies of the DLC are more responsible for the address in "nowhere, zip00000" than any leftists critical of same.

Come out for the real party, Wolf. No one cares what happened in the past. We need activism, not melancholy.

Than means presence in 50 states, not just the DLC strategy of 10.
