My thoughts on a poster for tomorrow's march.
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 05:55 PM by efhmc
AWOL bush body count during Vietnam= 0
*bush body count during Iraqi War= 1600+ Americans 100,000+ Iraqis.
Way to make up that difference.

Too much, too wordy? How about those figures. Are they close to being accurate. Thanks for your help.
Edited to add another "0".

Off to get poster paper, but if you still have suggestions, please be sure to add them. Thanks again.

3. I honestly don't know. I just pulled that number out of the air. I am sure
it is much too low. Any suggestions on where to find the right number?

6. No, do both
Casualties include wounded and dead, I think. I'd separate them though. I think we make a mistake in not sticking to the strict facts. 10,000 dead Iraqi's is a helluva lot too. Why use the 100,000 figure when it's still being debated? What's the point in giving them ammunition when 10,000 is bad enough?

9. So where can I go to get numbers that are accurate or as close to
accurate as possible? I will include the wounded also. I think those numbers are very important. But who has any idea what those figures are?

10. Personally I think it is pointless to protest saying how many Iraqis died.
It wont help change a single person's mind about the war. Those who cared about dead Iraqis already oppose the war. Now talking about thousands of American soldiers who are covered in third degree burns and who are missing limbs is VERY effective. And speaking just of American soldiers who died helps America forget about the thousands who have been disabled for the rest of their lives but still live.

Don't forget these people.

11. Okay, I almost did not put in the number of Iraqis but I just feel wrong
not doing so since they ARE dead becasue of *bush, but if the point is to change minds, you probably have a good point.

14. Be accurate, not exploitive
To me, that's the main thing. And there are people who do care, and others who might care if they knew more.

Eyes Wide Open is very effective and they're including both.

This site has the troop numbers you're after. My son thinks calling them troops mentally marginalizes them, we need to upgrade them to soldiers.

7. Casualties = killed + wounded.
And 10,000+ is much more effective than 1600.

15. I am going to print that out and give it to people. That is amazing
information. Are there any number that try to separate out the Iraqi civilians?
