Does U.S. democracy have a legal right to die?
Will the U.S. economy be removed from life support?
Will the U.S. public remain braindead?
Will the feeding tube be pulled from American elections?

What if they gave a wag-the-dog-distraction and nobody came?

Was there a protest or something this weekend?

If media spin falls in the forest, does it make a sound?

3. ABC News did not report anything on the protests, but I do not think
that is the fault of the American people. If you are concerned about Americans getting information that they are not getting through the corporate news, find a way to get it out. I knew that protests were going on ONLY because Moveon.org sent me an email.

4. Yes it does, and it sure seems to be heading that way
Sort of the "last days of the Roman Empire" feeling, know what I mean?

It'll be a shame, of course, but then again we have no one to blame but ourselves (not ourselves as individuals, of course, but as a mass of complacent, apathetic ciphers who took no interest in what was happening all around them).

5. Well that's the key right there
"....as a mass of complacent, apathetic ciphers who took no interest in what was happening all around them."

Braindead. For many reasons, I know the drill. Still.

And for "ourselves as individuals," I am interested in what we CAN do in the face of this complacency. At least 25 years of a national suspended sense of disbelief (since Raygun) have gotten us to this point of complete stupor on behalf of the public. Is there more that those who see through the flim flam can do?

Nikki Stone does not think "that is the fault of the American people." and correctly suggests "If you are concerned about Americans getting information that they are not getting through the corporate news, find a way to get it out."

How can we help people to trust their gut, their own judgement, to sort through all the bullshit and not fall for the distracting gimmicks EVERY TIME?

Foster clarity. Turn off the TV and computer that foster the instant gratification compulsion? Educate about the governmental process (so people don't fall for crap like theTerminator is pulling in California).

6. I'm afraid you missed that funeral

The 229 year experiment known as the United States Of America officially died on December 12, 2000 in a bloodless coup.

This is actually the fourth year of the New Fascist States Of America, and apparently it is moving right along as scheduled.

Most are not happy with the newborn country, but then again, children are so difficult at this age, aren't they?

Hopefully, for the sake of the planet, this new country will die a much quicker death than the previous incarnation.

Hopefully to be replaced with one that deserves a long life.

8. Not sure what you mean but
If the current gang keeps going unopposed, we may not have much of a future to contemplate such things. :(

We are in very dark times.

The next 6 months, depending how it plays out could be the darkest in our history.

The more important question may be, in this New World Horrific, how does one avoid becoming a casualty or a statistic of the murderous Crime Family that currently presides over our fates?

12. Hypocrite and/or roadkill-- not much of a choice
Americans wanna believe in their freedoms-- sucked dry
Americans wanna believe in their leaders-- sucked dry
Americans wanna believe in their democracy-- sucked dry
Americans wanna believe in their system-- as SPECTATORS

13. Good Point.
However, because of the Voting Machines and legislation that has been passed since 9/11, making all relief that we could seek against these people through the legislative and judicialry process nearly improbable and IMPOSSIBLE, our role as spectators really isn't voluntary any longer.

Unless of course.....

Well, we best not speak of that.

14. I am reminded of the scene from Gladiator
When Russell Crowe looks defiantly at the crowd and says

"Are You Not Entertained?"

Sadly, that about sums up an all too large part of our populace right now. :(

15. Here we are now, entertain us.
A mosquito. A libido.

The spectacle has replaced the experience.

Hence "hypocrite."
