Will living wills be next?

What's next for the right to lifers to do in order to further invade privacy rights for Americans? Is it possible that the movement could try to make living wills illegal? I know the Schiavo case is about political grandstanding but I'm beginning to think these wingnuts are so drunk with power they feel they can do anything they want.

I wonder if there are any commentators talking about this.

Im going to stipulate that I want Congress to decide what to do if I need a feeding tube. They won't mind meeting on a weekend (on recess) to help me out, will they?

Of course they are and WE have allowed it. The media says nothing, the Dems in Congress say nothing. Isn't this how Hitler came in to power? Bush has his war and our soldiers continue to go quietly and now Congress can legislate for or against any INDIVIDUAL it chooses, a completely unconstitutional act.

It can be done FOR TS, it can be done TO YOU. Don't bother with a Living Will; you think Tom DeLay would even read it?

BTW, I have a broken toe and have emailed Bush asking for an appointment this week to come to the Oval Office for medical treatment. He is now a neurologist, so why not practice orthopedics, too.

I think that is what we should remind the American people about. Terri is an adult but having this intervention by the Right Wing--err, the US Congress. Since children have no legal status when it comes to making decisions for themselves, how long before grandma or the neighbor or the ex-mother-in-law inserts themselves as the defacto "guardian" of a child against the wishes of it's parents??? Why can't I stand up for the kid whose Mom just patted the fanny in the supermarket for pulling the display down and insist that the government intervene OR conversely.....the mom doesn't paddle the kid but as a Christian Winger I insist it's necessary to beat the living shit out of this kid so he doesn't destroy his life. With the right Nazis in our government (and we already have a shitload of them) and enough winger judges, we can sit back and watch the children of non-republicans become the target of these unimportant, ugly nobodies who think they have power (wait until the 'power' they put into office slices the very means of making a living right out from under them).

of keeping thousands alive artificially for decades? As far as I'm concerned if somebody has made out a living will and the government insists on voiding that legal document the government should be prepared to pay the bill, in the millions for each person.

After this Schiavo fiasco, I am convinced that MY COUNTRY HAS NOW OFFICIALLY GONE TOTALLY INSANE.
