Count on selfishness of the american people

It seems to me most people in america didn't give a crap about any of the bad things bush has done unless it affected them personally. Total selfishness. Bush was smart to make it so people did not have to sacrifice much for this war. Instead we got tax cuts in a time of war. But the first time I see the american people finally saying no is on his social security dismantling. This is the first time bush is actually affecting people personally and reaching into their pockets so to speak.

They're like go ahead and start wars and bomb the middle east as much as you want as long as it doesn't affect ME in any way why should I care. As long as you don't raise MY taxes and draft MY sons and daughters. But now you want to dare mess with MY retirement. That's when I will finally stand up and say NO. It's all about ME.

I think people are as apathetic as they are selfish. Many don't even make a token effort to understand what is going on around them.

Besides, researching issues and paying attention to this misadministration's evil deeds would take time away from sitting on the couch and watching American Idol.
