Capital Punishment and the sanctity of life
It has been proven that innocent people are executed by the state. Now, me, I find that to be a really, really, bad thing. And since there is no proof that the fear of death prevents homicides one might think that those whose hearts are rent by Mrs. Schaivo's condition and demise might give a fuck about that.

If your son or daughter is wrongfully executed by the state one might think that this would require Senators and Congressmen to assemble immediately no matter what the hour to prevent this heinous and grievous injury. The President will fly in to amend this law immediately!

1. I just had this thought, Do you suppose that Terri Schaivo voted repuke
in the last two elections?
I know it would not be legal, but why would that stop the repukes?

3. the death penalty is all about vengeance . . .
proponents don't care about life, or justice, or anything other than exacting revenge for crimes committed and other perceived wrongs . . . and in the current climate, it's a short step from killing murderers to killing other "undesirables" . . . like gays, or Muslims, or non-white people . . . it happened in Nazi Germany, and it can certainly happen here . . .

4. I agree totally
This issue has totally ticked me off. I came home last night from work around 12:30am and saw that congress was in session for Terri. I could not believe it! The majority of those who voted to "save" Terri's life probably do not have a problem to throw the switch and excute a person. Just look at Texas under *. I rest my case he is not for the sancity of life just getting his conservative base in an uproar so he can find new ways to screw them up the a@#.

7. Hypocrisy
Since 1973, 119 people in 25 states have been released from death row with evidence of their innnocence.

The latest addition to DPIC's Innocence List is Derrick Jamison, No. 119, of Ohio, exonerated on February 28, 2005.

Culture of Lifer's may say "see the system works" which would be typical for a group that accepts responsibility for nothing it does or fails to do. Hey so a few innocents get fried, gassed, or drugged to death.
