Clark may have been a one term President if he were elected.
Clark is so honest and unafraid that he would have pissed a lot of people off.

He would have met every challenge in the best way, not the most popular.

He would have told the truth, even if it wasn't what we wanted to hear.

I sometimes think that if he had been elected, the American People as a whole would not have been ready for him.

The "establishment" definetly would not have been ready.

Maybe we need to be brought to our knees before the "American People" as a whole can recognize the traits that are needed for our President. One of the traits won't have to be "someone that I would like to have a beer with".

1. Like Carter: Honest and unafraid to do the right thing.

2. I don't know about that
The distinction was percieved weakness. Carter created an ambience of weakness and "malaise" around his office. That might have been truthful, but it wasn't inspirational.

I want someone who has Carter's honesty, but a bit more strength--Clark might be a good choice in that regard.

3. Plus the shit that's about to hit the fan probably would've killed any Dem
Between the exponentially increasing national debt, the situation in Iraq, etc, I think that any president would've been incredibly unpopular in the next four years. If any of our candidates won, he or she would've probably been a 1-termer.
