"Schiavo Talking Points" may spell the end of Santorum's reelect chances..
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 03:42 PM by Junkdrawer
Here are the GOP's talking points on Schiavo that garnered so much attention over the weekend. Rumor has it that Rick Santorum's office wrote these talking points:

S. 529., The Incapacitated Person's Legal Protection Act

* Teri Schiavo is subject to an order that her feeding tubes will be disconnected on March 18, 2005 at 1p.m.

* The Senate needs to act this week before the Budget Act is pending business, or Teri's family will not have a remedy in federal court.

* This is an important moral issue and the pro-life base will be excited that the Senate is debating this important issue.

* This is a great political issue, because Senator Nelson of Florida - has already refused to become a cosponsor and this is a tough issue for Democrats.

And now polls are running 92/8 and 70/30 AGAINST Congress getting involved:

As of last month, he was trailing Casey 52 to 31...

3. This will not hurt Rick. Stop hoping for Repubs to fall on their swords.
If Repubs are to be pierced, we will have to stab them.

I fail to see how this memo makes Santorum look bad.

12. I'm sure Freeps are uncomfortable with Gannon too- but did it hurt Bush?
This story will hurt the GOP as much as the Gannon story did.

10. If you say so. DEMS will have to lead the attack then- and do it on TV....
...and use blunt, agressive language that everyone understands. Like:

"Santorum is lying about this issue- he is using this family's private business for his own dishonest, corrupt purposes."

It would also help if they use top-name DEMS like Obama, Dean & Kerry to lead the attack on Santorum- ON TV- not writing letters.

As it is, the memo does not set off any red flags- so what?- they planned it ahead of time- big deal.

Because of the DEM failure/refusal/cowardice to do somthing like what I wrote above, this will not hurt Santorum one bit.

This will hurt Santorum about as much as Gannon hurt Bush- all due to the failure of DEMs to fight.

I would love to.

This will not hurt Bush or Santorum one bit- you watch.
