Mike Shiavo's Brother Talks About Daddy Schindler on CNN

CNN interviewed the brother of Mike Shiavo early this a.m. (of course trying to paint Mike as the 'husband from hell'). They played St. Jeb's pronouncements of yesterday about how Terry is not in a vegatative state ('cause they were able to pay off a loser M.D. to say so).

Brother first talked about how this is just one big political game and how the "right to lifers" have threatened all these politicians if they don't do what they say, etc. Then CNN went down a laundry list of accusations that his brother is an abuser, etc.

The brother pointed out how the Schindlers during the 'malpractice suit' were gushing about what a wonderful man Mike was and how he was their rock and what a wonderful marriage they had, etc. Then on Valentine's Day after the awarding of the monies, Bob Schindler found out that he was not going to receive a dime of it. He told Mike he was going to make his life hell. Brother said that Bob is exactly like this and that it has been all the time "all about Bob".

Now I can see why this girl had eating disorders that go back into her childhood. I wonder if Bob got custody, how long before he would be suing anybody he could (her former doctors, etc.) and I wonder how long it would take Bob to pull the plug if the money had to be used for her care???? Lying and distortion seem to be the bedrock value of these Christian right Nazis.

The parents of these young people tend to be manipulative control freaks whose expectations for success keep the child forever in a constant state of panic over what will be expected next in the "Land of Perfect". With success being an ever moving target, the one aspect of their lives the person with an eating disorder has control of is their intake and elimination of food. They use food to try to fill the empty void in their lives that most people experience as feeling fulfilled and loved. The abuse of their bodies is a cry for help, and it is the entire family that usually needs to be treated.

What makes you believe that "Bob" and family won't sue Michael Schiavo after Terri dies?

No matter the outcome, Terri's family is being extremely selfish!

Edit: I keep hearing about her childhood being horrible, I've never heard this in the media.

Isn't it always about money? Blood is thicker than water but not nearly so thick as a greenback it seems.

"the husband from hell". On the contrary, I think CNN's coverage has been fair to Michael Schiavo. I have watched lots of coverage this week on this story and I think CNN's has been the most fair to Michael. They haven't trooped out a parade of right to lifers to give their opinions as other networks have.

I saw this interview with his brother and thought it was a great interview. I doubt many other networks will interview him.

I am waiting for one of the networks to interview the guy carrying the big spoon outside the hospital where Terri is.

and his "side." 3:1 is not fair and balanced and is FAR from reflecting the views of most Americans on this issue.

IIRC, she had Schiavo's brother, but then she had:

The Schindler's priest/spiritual adviser
A RW minister/academic
A member of the Schindler family or another sympathizer

At first, I thought she had the minister there to provide a balance to the priest, that he would be a moderate who had different views. But within about two sentences it was clear that he was as RW as they come.

So I couldn't watch for long. While I was watching she asked all the RW questions but I think she did it to give the Schiavo brother a chance to debunk them all, which he did.

Can't stomach the woman.

I have seen the CNN coverage on their morning news show all week. It seems very fair to me.

From all I've seen on CNN, MSNBC, etc. when they come to pointing fingers they do the "some say" and then do their laundry list of charges against Michael. They do not go into problems in the Schindler home. They do not go into the turn in the Schindlers when they find out they aren't going to get money out of this, etc. But, they will drag up every dumb dog (like some LPN that wants a buck) to say outrageous shit about Mike and about Terri almost singing and dancing down the hallways. In other words,the anti-Mike are like 400 to 1 in their coverage of the "both sides" of this issue. In other words, the corporate media desperately needs a 'win' for the winger forces in order to tell us that "get over it, the Christian right rules" -- why the fuck do you think they are all going into the "religion in America" mold all week???

Perhaps her mother does, but the others are conniving. The edited and doctored video of her that is being shown on all the channels is indicative of this.

He's the exact opposite of Michael Schiavo, who seems to legitimately want to keep this a private matter. Michael has only given a couple interviews (that I've seen), and in every one, he comes across as shell-shocked, deeply saddened, and more than a little pissed that people are shoving TV cameras into an intensely private, family situation. The father, on the other hand, seems a little too anxious to get on camera and stir up as much trouble as possible. The more you see the guy, the more you get the impression that he has an ulterior agenda.

A friend told me last night that Schindler was in fact her step-father. I hadn't heard that before and am wondering if it is true.

He's the one with the list of contributions to Jeb, Chimp, Cruella, and that asshole Thune (for whatever reason) and the guy who's posing for pictures with Bugboy, Hastert, and Senselessbrenner.

Sorry unsure of the exact program where they were interviewing the priest but he made statements that were immediatly proven to be false and the interviewer followed up with the actual facts. Amazingly this priest/brother/friar, continually repeated his lies with each following interview.

As for Mama Schindler, I am unable to fanthom why this loving mother is not at the bedside of her dying daughter?

If the Schindlers were pursing their case before the various courts, why is Mama Schindler traveling daily in Alabama, DC to appear before the cameras? Being a mother of 2-daughters, approximatly the same age as Terii Schaivo, I could guarantee that neither heaven nor hell would pry me away from their bedside. If Mama Schindler truly believes that Terry is fully cognizant and aware of her surroundings she should have been there at her side, holding her hand, talking to her, from the moment the feeding tube was plugged.

No one grieves exactly the same, but this Schindler family is really strange.

It's not fair to judge, I know, but I am very uncomfortable about these parents. I also find it fascinatingly tragic that Michael S. says nothing bad about his in-laws, yet their "team" has no problem slandering him with the most vile allegations that have been repeatedly discredited. It certainly suggests to me very strongly a good reason why he has been so steadfast in trying to protect his wife's interests.

I realized then and there what the hell this was REALLY all about.
