I believe it was the ATF under direction of the US Attorney General (Reno).

Remember the outrage that the federal government would step in and intervene in a family matter....

not defying one.

The courts had decided that Elian should be returned to his father.

Sending in troops to intervene in the Schiavo case would be using law enforcement to break the law since the courts have already decided in Michael Schiavo's favor.

if Jeb decides to send in the state police, the US Atty General would be compelled to send in Federal Marshalls to intervene.

Wouldn't that look lovely on the news....Maybe Jebbie & Georgie aren't really getting along these days? Maybe this is Jebbie trying to put something on over his brother? Wouldn't that be interesting to see...if only it would just continue the horror this family is undergoing.

I've often wondered about the real relationship between Jeb & George when it comes to their political aspirations. I never believed George the Senior was all that pleased George Jr and not Jeb was the president - however, Babs is obviously enamored of George Jr.
