...and to whip up their base into a frenzy.
I'm probably stating the obvious here.
However, it really hit me hard when I was watching Fox News. We all know that Fox has a direct pipeline from the White House. Fox communicates White-House talking points.
Fox's coverage is so emotional and sensational. One talking head just said, "The brother of Terri said that he just wants her the way she is. That they'll take therapy, but also want everyone to know that they love Terri as she is. They want to love her as she is until the Lord comes to get her."
They just featured an interview with the doctor who misrepresented his Nobel-Prize nomination. They are leveraging this doctor as a "doctor who has been nominated for a Nobel prize in medicine." Fox knows those credentials are lies.
Fox is showcasing many doctors who are saying that Terri isn't in a vegetative state. I just hear another doctor say that Terri responds to commands, smiles, reacts to her mother, etc.
Fox is also repeatedly playing Randall Terry's comment, "If Terri dies, there will be hell to pay."
The Republicans, in tandem with Fox News are--in effect--"yelling fire in a crowded theater".
What do the Republicans want out of this? An energized base? Civil War? Who knows.
Dysfunctional parents often purposely create sibling divisions, by fostering divisiveness and inciting infighting. Strong divisions impede families from uniting and take the focus off the real issue; the pathological behavior of those at the helm.
That's exactly what's going on here. The Republicans don't care about Terri. They don't care about morals. Or God. Or even the abortion issue. They latch onto whatever will create divisiveness, bitterness and the greatest chasm between our nation.
A house divided cannot stand. Likewise, a nation divided cannot stand against it's corrupt, warmongering, corrupt government.
That's exactly what's going on here.
