5. Outstanding! Loved the article about The Velvet Revolution...
In the Iconoclast. It was very good. I hate that it is subscription only. I downloaded the edition via pdf,and have the print version also. I hate sites where you can't share an article.

Anyway it was excellent.

He doesn't have the tell-tale American flag lapel pin.

But, then again, PO Box 139 COULD be the Mailbox of Freedom.

One never knows.

31. Flag Pins R Not Us
There -is- a pin designed by two forum hosts at AlterNet.org in direct response to the ubiquitous flag waving:

www.pinsforpatriots.com

For those who don't believe in wrapping ourselves in the flag while burning the Constitution.

7. This story has slipped under my radar
The Congressional hearings that this gop front organization testified before was the one headed by Ney? The same Congressional hearing that is composed of 6 Repubs & 2 Dems???

Is this the Congressional hearing that these criminal bastids are testifying in front of....oh, and under oath???

Let me please remind everyone that Rep Conyers practically begged every member of the House to join in an investigation shortly after the sElection. ALL repubs refused, and Ney is on record saying that he would agree to an investigation, but only if it was bipartisan.:wtf: Conyers BEGGED for a bipartisan investigation, instead the only hearing with the weight of the Congress was completely PARTISAN-----6 repubs & 2 Dems!!!!!

Does Cliff & Rep Conyers know about these findings?????

:grr: :nuke: :grr: :nuke: :grr: :nuke: :grr: :nuke: :grr: :nuke:

36. time to get writing. here is my letter to Ney when he REFUSED to go to
Conyers' hearing (and, ironically, got po'd at blackwell who refused to show up at something he set up). I sent this originally to him and Many Representatives (ohio and otherwise) -- think it's time to let them know that even though they say the moon is made of blue cheese, it really isn't...

if anyone else writes him - FEEL FREE to use his quote to remind him how serious bi-partisan election reform is.... (this time send a link to the "Preserving Democracy: What Happened in Ohio" document (http://election04.ssrc.org/research/preserving_democracy.pdf )

(From December)
Dear Mr. Ney:

I have read your comments regarding the Judiciary Hearing that Representative Conyers invited all of the Republican members to, and which all Republican members declined to attend.

In an Associated Press article, you are quoted as saying "Election reform is a serious issue that requires serious, bipartisan examination and debate. It does not deserve what we are seeing today - partisan attacks and unsubstantiated claims disguised as fact in a faux hearing."

My question, sir, is this: Isn't this the time to become bipartisan? If indeed nothing improper happened except long lines and machine breakdowns, (which just happened to occur unfortunately mainly in Democratic neighborhoods, but also occurred in some Republican neighborhoods), then why are all of the Republican House Members so afraid of appearing in a public forum? Why did not one of you come to listen/participate before calling all of the information false? How can you possibly make that claim without hearing the evidence?

The issues that Kenneth Blackwell, Secretary of State/Co-Chair of the Bush/Cheney Re-election Committee, has refused to answer in the Letter the House Judiciary Committee (Dem) sent ( http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/ohblackwellltr12204.pdf ) are not merely "faux" incidents. They deserve careful scrutiny, and they deserve to be answered for the people -- for, lest you and your Republican Members forget, it is we, the people, that elect you all.

The number of people that were disenfranchised during this election were not just a few, not just a hundred, but numbered in the thousands, and that is just in Ohio. This is not something that is to be "expected" in an election. This is *not* democracy, and it appalls me that you and the rest of the people who are declaring the vote in Ohio a success believe it to be true. I would be just as upset if the same circumstances occurred; yet the other candidate was deemed to be elected. Would you be upset then? Would that change circumstances, and your intensity on this matter, or is this truly about free, fair and equitable elections, which you profess to want?

I respectively ask that this matter be addressed now -- jointly with the Democratic Judiciary Committee -- that all House Members review the claims, and today's transcript, and that Kenneth Blackwell answer the Letter sent to him to the best of his ability by December 10th. Election reform cannot occur if the issues surrounding this election are not considered and addressed.

You are expected to represent your constituents. Do not let them down.

Kind Regards.

43. Great letter KaliTracy!
...Well done! Though I'll recommend anybody who resends it (or anything like it -- and I hope you will!) also asks him to account for calling a three day old "Voting Rights" group to testify as the only such group called. Particularly when it's comprised of little more than the Bush/Cheney '04 lead attorney and RNC Communications Director!

Frankly, it's more than a slight insult to the *real* Voting Rights groups and people out there in this country, many of who have actually *died* in support of such rights!

24. Well, maybe they should waited
and tailed anyone going near that box? Or, sent a whole pile of interesting mailings into that box? I think this was a bit rushed as some real detective work might have even uncovered a money laundering crime or something like a real address of those using the box.

The choice of UPS for larger space puts them as well outside the direct regulations of Federal law too, so feel free to smell a bigger rat here.

Fun is fun but there are other groups like this that should be investigated, not just toyed with and driven underground with none of the American public the wiser.

Another Gannon type plant to manipulate the message.

Might want to drop ACVR's spokesperson ....... former head
RNC spokesmen an e mail and ask why a St. Louis attorney
w/ connection to Dallas republicans would testify about the Ohio
'04 vote.

Great job Brad!

I can't believe we're still having to convince people at DU that fraud did in fact happen. Why else would they keep pulling shit like this? They got to testify?!? Seriously how come some DU'ers still insist that Bush won fair and square?
