1. I thought they weren't going to make a decision
until the morning?

WTF do I know? I've been wrong before! I'm staying tuned.

4. The other day they deliberated until 6 AM.
I may be wrong, but it seems like they're hoping they don't have to make a decision...if the patient dies before they rule. I know the experts have said death can take from 5 to 14 days after removal of food and hydration, but the reports today indicate it's not going to be 14! Could be very soon.

7. Which brings me to another disturbing thought
First, your need to know; I don't have a religion, nor do I beleive in god (surprise!).

The disturbing thought is that if Terri dies on Good Friday or Easter Sunday, she will become a martyr. The religious right will want to make her a saint. I don't know if I can stomach all this.

19. Seriously? They're comparing her to Jesus being crucified?
What is wrong with these people?

So, all of the other people who are currently dying peaceful, humane deaths because their loved ones stop feeding tubes---are those people being crucified and murdered as well?

The twisted, bizarre logic that these people use to make their points--lacks any sort of rational thought or common sense.

Every point they make is either a lie or a distortion that is easily refuted with facts.

"Michael Schiavo certainly stood to gain from Terri's demise...a million dollars!"

Ummm...excuse me--he sued to get money for his wife's care! He loved her so much, he sued to get HELP for her! You twisted nimrods! The money was put into a trust--he didn't get the million. It was spent on care that you insisted that he never gave her.

Unfrickinbelievable!

15. I think Terri...
...will probably hang on for a while.

I'm not a medical doctor, and it's only my opinion--but I think she will be alive for several more days.

She's very inactive, and has been for a while. Lack of food and water may take longer to cause death, because she's expending hardly any energy.

It would be a shame for her to pass on one of those holidays. It will just whip these wacknuts into a lather.

I'm really sick of their sickness.

6. Are you talking about the blonde woman on Larry King?
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 01:02 AM by TwoSparkles
A disabled woman, who could barely speak, asked if she should be scared. She wanted to know if the Schiavo situation meant that people like herself, on feeding tubes, could be sentenced to death.

Of course the question was ridiculous! The disabled woman who called, could speak!

That blonde devilwitch said, "Oh yes! You should be very scared!" and she launched into her diatribe.

What a horrible, horrible woman!!

Let's scare all of the disabled people. Good strategery!

These charlatans have no compassion, no goodness and they only give a damn about propagating their sick agendas.

...and I thought I'd heard it all.

9. I agree...
...how could you scare a disabled woman, and try to convince her that the liberals were coming after her--to disconnect her feeding tube at any moment.

A few minutes prior, this blonde woman said that "their side" believes "better dead than disabled."

You gotta wonder how these vampires sleep at night.

(no pun intended)

11. It's like the horrible accident on the side of the road
I will gripe about everyone else slowing down when passing the accident, necks craned at a 90 degree angle. But when I get up to it, I pretty much do the same thing. I hate myself for it.

17. So true "all partisan panel"...
...what WAS up with that???

Ok, over here--we have the religious right nutjob.

Then over here, we have the hard-right, conservative talking head.

And to balance things out, we have a Republican.

This stuff gets so old!

Where are the liberals in this "liberal media?"

16. Julian on Larry King
Is his last name Epstein? former democratic counsel for the judiciary committee? He was wonderful and enlightening. He said Congress could have kept Terri alive (and chose not to) by passing a stay. Yes, it might be, and probably would be, ruled unconstitutional, but in the mean time, the tube would have had to be put back. He also said they could have made changes in the evidentiary standards/elements with the same effect. This lends credence to those here who have said the republicans didn't really want her to live. The thinking being they could make more out of the situation if she were to die. Do you think they aren't cognizant of the likelihood that death would come close to the holiday, if not on it, when the tube was removed the Friday before Good Friday?

And what is up with the satchel which might have a bomb placed by the courthouse where the deliberations were taking place -- nothing, I presume, since AP breaking has nothing on it at this hour.

Finally, the woman who supposedly had PVS that Paula Zahn made such a deal out of the other day, saying her tube was withdrawn and she was in excruciating pain for days, was on LK. Now, she refused to say she was diagnosed with PVS, said her husband refused to give up on her (who removed the tube, then?) and said NOTHING about the feeding tube. When asked about her brain scans, she refused to comment. I think she was always a liar, and what was with the "confused" coma survivor who they took off the program?

18. I know...that entire show was like a Twilight Zone episode...
I didn't watch it all, but I noticed many of the things you mentioned in your post.

What WAS going on with the VERY confused coma survivor??? She was initially introduced as a coma survivor who thought Terri should be allowed to die. Larry cut to her and she said that she had changed her mind and she now thought Terri looked like she had a good shot at living! She claimed she saw recent video of Terri and that she looked great. I really don't think she knew what she was saying. Next thing you know...she was gone from the panel.

I agree with your comments on the Dem Council guy. He was adamant that the Republican Congress could have done more, but chose to write a more narrow bill. I think Congress' actions were merely symbolic and they were creating a stage from which to kow tow to the religious right--for DeLay sympathy and for 06.

That supposed PVS sufferer was a total liar! Larry asked her about her condition and she remarked, "I'm not going to get into the specifics of my case." Larry said, "Well, that's why you're here." DUH!!! The woman comes on LK, insisting that she was in a PVS and then refuses to talk about it. She kept insisting that she came out of it because her husband never gave up on her and got her therapy. OH PLEASE. This woman was lying. She was not like Terri.

The woman arguing with the Dem Council guy was a shrill spinmeister. She said all of the polls on this issue were worded badly. She was worthless.

This truly was Larry's most farcical show--a real circus of the jerks!

21. I agree; it was one of the most bizarre
shows I've seen from him, but Julian was worth every minute. I've always loved him -- such an outstanding legal mind. I can listen to him explain things all night.

If you had seen that dark haired, supposed PVS survivor on Paula Zahn's piece aired on Anderson Cooper, you would have been even more upset. She talked about how she was screaming inside her body,"Feed Me, Feed Me." Said the tube was removed for like 7 days. I am wondering if she went from tube feeding to an IV, or something, so there was no removal of sustenance -- or she is a wicked liar. I'm thinking maybe folks had seen the Zahn piece and were questioning her big time and that is why she on LK wouldn't even say she was diagnosed as PVS. I don't like Zahn, but after this, I detest her because obviously, she is a shill and has no journalistic integrity.

I have a little sympathy for the disabled who are paranoid that society might try to do them in. It must be very difficult for to hear folks say to them that they would rather be dead than live that way, and in a future where health care will be rationed??? I heard an excellent opinion on this case from a severely disabled lawyer, and she also seemed fearful. When Bush can sign a law which allows hospitals to pull the plug on the poor regardless of family wishes, they need to be concerned. That's a financial decision about resource management, and the disabled are high end users of health care resources.

23. what really bugs me...
is that all these panels keep doing is repeating the talking points over and over again. Like they all watched FAUX news to get thier info, and then just repeat the same old lies.
They can't get a reputable lawyer or doctor in this country to support any of thier absurd claims, but 1000's of doctors and lawyers to refute anything they say. Its just rediculous that they continue to push thier lies even though everything anyone has said has been refuted and proven as lies and slander over and over again.
