The crawler on CNN says the Florida Court just ruled they will not review Cheshire's quack report.

3. Probably not
You know how it is, the court wouldn't review the report only because Terri is a Christian, if she had of been an atheist they would have spent the next month reviewing it. {/sarcasm off}

4. There will be no peace from this crap flooding the airwaves
The corporate news media must play this up to cover up Bush's failure on Social Security and the troubles plaguing Iraq as well as issues of corporate malfeasance and corporate corruption in government. They will make sure we will talk about things like Michael Jackson, Terri Schiavo, and other nonsense instead of things such as health care, public education, the environment, and issues of war and peace.

7. i picked up parrt of an interview with a Carolyn Johnson nurse aid who
had worked with Terri a few times (maybe one to 3 times a month per the NA). Greta Van Susstan was mining her for information--particularily information on Michael during his visits with Terri. This mining of informtion was sad--the NA was obviously not very knowledgable or to me at least her memory was poor--but she did say that Michael was "mean"--always telling her to do or not to do certain things and was a "character". Greta did not ask specifics about the parents. The interview took place outside the Hospice it seemed to me.

15. You know...this is pretty damn important.....
I see DU'ers bitch about all the Schiavo posts yet their the same ones who bitch when these Nazi's shove another bill restricting rights to EVERYONE through Congress at warp speed.

Personally I'm DAMN glad Dems and even Conservatives said HELL NO to Bush--both of them,DeLay and Randal Terry on this extremely important matter. I don't even want to comprehend what would be next for these religious fanatics if everyone would have kept silent.

Best thing to do if you don't like the the attention is stay away from DU for a week or two, ignore Schiavo posts or click on the box with the X in it.

6. I worry about that too
I think the fundies--and their Repuke whores in Congress--are going to turn this into a mission to attack the "activist judges" big-time.

9. Dr Leon Prockop, neurologist said she is awake to the work but not aware
Says last brain scan shows approx. 80% of brain gone and other 20% not functioning properly. He has been in practice in South Florida for 32 years and came across as very credable. Greta van Susstern interviewed him last evening.

14. Well...
... this time they just might not have things turn out the way they planned.

It's is really hard for me to see how they are going to turn around an 80% majority who see this for what it is.

It's not impossible, but it isn't likely either. Sure, they will rally the 30% idiot-contingent, but that's about it, and that is not enough to get anything accomplished.

8. Is this true?
Where did you see this? I'd think all the cable news shows would be on live right now telling us more about this very private thing that the Roveicans have made.
I am watching the crawl and it says that the Federal judge made no immediate decision, immediately following it said the old news that the state court refused to be bullied by Jeb.
I hope it is over, but I don't like the way she is forced to pass away. If a person wishes to not be artificially kept alive, then why can't a doctor administer a shot and end it. The whole system is crazy.

10. I do not think the Tampa court has given their ruling yet- the hearing is
over but we are awaiting the outcome. Tampa is a Federal Court (appealing the state court below (Greer) as I understand the process.
One of the arguments in this Fed court is that Greer violated her right -for cruel and inhumane punishment-among other things.

.......The Schindlers had been hoping that Jeb Bush could save their daughter by presenting an affidavit from William P. Cheshire, a neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., who says Schiavo may be in a "minimally conscious," rather than "vegetative," state, as court-appointed doctors believe.

Cheshire has been a vocal critic of assisted suicide. An article attributed to him on the Web site www.restorationfoundation.org advocated Jews converting to Christianity. "Should not we who are in Christ lift the yoke of persecution from the shoulders of the Jewish people and refresh them with the truth of the Lord of the Sabbath?" the article says.

Pinellas County Circuit Judge George W. Greer ruled that Bush's attempt to use Cheshire's report as a basis for taking custody of Schiavo appeared to be a violation of the constitutional separation the legislative, judicial and executive branches. "By clear and convincing evidence, it was determined she did not want to live under such burdensome conditions and that she would refuse such medical treatment-assistance," Greer wrote.

Bush may have missed an opportunity to take custody of Schiavo on Thursday morning. For about three hours, Felos said, there was no judicial impediment stopping the state from seizing Schiavo and resuming her tube-feeding because an arcane rule granted an automatic stay of court orders after an appeal was filed at 8:15 a.m. Realizing that the appeal opened a window of opportunity, Felos said, he asked Greer to issue another order nullifying the stay. Once the state figured out what was happening, Felos said, its lawyers apparently tried to stall a Thursday-morning hearing before Greer to give officers time to drive to the hospice. But Greer issued the order shortly after 11 a.m., preventing any possible state action. Another attempt to seize Schiavo may have been set in motion the day before, Felos said.......

13. How interesting. There was a 3 hour window where Jeb could've siezed
Schiavo and didn't. The question is, did he know that and deliberately didn't act? I suspect he wants this to be out of his hands; he's hoping in the end his fundies see judges as the bad guys. But if this becomes known, that he could have acted and didn't, he'll have hell to pay.

12. My sincere Christian view: May God Bless the Merciful US Court System
This is the most compassionate and humane action. It's a shame that she was prevented through extra-ordinary measures (feeding tube for a cerebral *brain dead* person!) - THAT IMO WRONGLY DELAYED her from joining the other beautiful souls with God in Heaven.

16. Jon Stewart's opening last night
hit the nail on the head. The bottom line was "removing the Schiavo feeding tube from cable news". He also showed some of the more outrageous "misinformation" comments by some of the rw pundits. I think the show repeats a couple of times today at 10 and 7 ?
