4. WOW - its that high? With his performance, I'd be impressed if it was 25%!
And the fact that its a Gallup Poll actually leads me to believe it is closer to being 25%....

How many think it will go lower? :hi:

8. But does a low approval rating really matter in a 2nd term?
I mean it's not like he'll ever resign. He can't run for re-election, so that isn't a problem. I don't see why any of these numbers matter anymore. He's in no matter what, and I don't see it dropping to the point where people will force him out (low 30s or 20s).

9. Let's put it this way
If this were one year ago or six months ago, a plummeting approval rating would be greeted by 100+ posts here. We're over an hour and mine is the 9th post. The approval rating means squat, as you indicate. Other than a treat for Bush-haters, and a possible footnote in his place in presidential history.

14. Might be more mo
for a really good scandal.

People who like him won't believe the awful things he's done. But if 55% of the American public is receptive to the scandals, we can maybe start getting some media coverage and drive it home.

Just remember: Nixon was re-elected too.

11. was his approval over 50% on nov. 1st?
cuz there's people who didn't approve of him but voted for him anyway. they bought the propaganda that the alternative would be worse and dems had nothing but criticism.

all it took was 1.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%.

12. Creepy thing is 45% still think he's a great President.....
Jesus, what would it take to change that? Oh I know, let Bush draft their son for a few years of duty in Iraq.

13. The lower his approval rating is...
...The less likely the Republican Mafia in Congress can push thier bogus agenda through. If the president was popular 55+, they would have free reign to move thier agenda. They could use the President's capitol. They are facing an election in 06 and with his numbers so low, they may get a little gun shy on Social Security, Empire, et al....

So this is more than Bush hating rhetoric, it's good news.
