Go Governor Dean...more about DC rally this week."Tired of being lied to."
The one article I have seen said almost nothing about it, yet I had heard from others it was pretty powerful. I hate to post the Washington Times, but it at least has something.

Consider the source and some of the snideness, but at least this shows he is speaking out.

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20050324-114412-9772r.htm

At that, a visibly tired Mr. Dean, who'd spent the day traversing Tennessee, took center stage and told the audience of several hundred: "We have some things to talk about, because we do need to win."

He immediately began criticizing President Bush's proposed partial privatization of Social Security, and ripped him for weighing revisions to Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education and requires schools receiving federal funds to allow women and girls the opportunity to play sports.
(This must be where he said for the GOP to stop asking us for a plan...we have a plan, it is Social Security.)

"Stop trying to tear down America," Mr. Dean shouted. "You ought to be ashamed of yourself." He warned Mr. Bush: "You can't fool women twice."

Then, the chairman who replaced Terry McAuliffe entered an arena that Republican candidates headlined during the 2004 election.

"I am tired of being lectured to about morals," said Mr. Dean, particularly by Republicans who "lie" about the environment, circumstances surrounding Enron's collapse, and whether U.S. troops in Iraq are equipped with proper body armor.

"I'm tired of being lied to," Mr. Dean said to loud applause. "Moral values are our friends. We need to talk about them."

He conceded Mr. Bush is a "good politician," but said Democrats "are never going to win by being a pale copy of the Republican Party."

1. YES.. I was there! Dean is good for us... notice they dont..
quote that he also said we need an election system that gives accurate results.. this time!

He also told us that most of the people that voted bush think WE are the elitists and bush is one of them... when he talks to them he says "look what THEY want to do to US..." but Dean said we will reach out through freinds and family and talk to them. Let them know we are the party for the people...

afterwards I spoke with this 80 yr old man there.... "FASCISTS.. the LOT of them!" he yells.. about bushies... "you know why.." he asks me.. "REAGAN... "! he wants me to send him a bunch of the "BUSH CHEATED '04" pins I was wearing!

2. I saw your earlier post. You need to do a write-up.
At DFA we nearly always had someone doing summaries, and often transcripts if there were a video. Since he is not giving national interviews, someone needs to provide summaries like that.

Anyway, you should write it up and post it here. I think they are right not butting in nationally, but it is so good to hear him speaking out.

3. I thought about it... I wish I had brought a camcorder...
otherwise I cant remember all the specifics... I quoted what struck me... I have reported from other DC events, and I hope to do more!
I been working with David Lytel(www.redefeatbush.com www.left.org ) here in DC and I told several ppl at the fundraiser about DU as the place to go. I also like knowing that I can be a reporter of sorts (If I had the guts I'd apply for a WH press pass!) to help keep you all informed... and help fight the lies and propaganda!

11. Isn't Lytel one of the founders of the Democrats.com site?
I love that site. I used to post there a lot in the forums, but I lost my user name. Guess I will have to reregister under my new email.

The official site of the party is .org

17. YES.. he is co-founder, Lytel then did redefeatbush and now left.org..
www.left.org is up and almost running... David is working on fundraising and product ideas... as you know money is always needed. But he is bold and loud and not afraid to speak his mind. He is adamant about doing whatever he can to expose the stole election and remove these crooks from our government! Thats why I joined him, I heard him speak outside the WH and outside the Capitol (on Jan 6th) He spoke the truth to 1000 or so people who gathered on that cold day to voice our disaproval of the election results!

Sounds cool. He was in Nashville not long ago and I wanted to go but I had class sadly that day and found out too late. :( Hopefully he'll be back down here again. I'd love to see him speak. I'm sure it'd be great. Awesome about the eighty year old man. Hehehe.

they consider US Elitists, and it really makes me laugh! How they've come to this decision is beyond me! But then again, consider the source.

4. Yay for Dean!
Yes. I agree with him about the republican party lite thing. No more! It worked for Clinton and that's it. He's being a great chairman! And the thing with the republicans asking us for a plan is because in reality they don't have one and they know people don't like (or understand) Bush's plan. So they're waiting for us to have a plan and then they'll take all the credit. Boxer also said once on a Washington Journal interview that Bush should sit down with the democrats just like Ronald Reagan did and did what should and needs to be done like he did.

6. Very outspoken in TN as well.
SNIP..."At TSU, Dean said that if Kerry had won the election, we'd be moving toward universal health care instead of eliminating millions of citizens from the health care rolls. Governor Bredesen plans to cut 323,000 Tennesseans from TennCare, the state's health care plan for the poor.

SNIP..."Although Dean spoke at length about the need to embrace conservative democrats, implicit in his remarks was the understanding that Tennessee has a desperate need for democrats who stand for something other than their own self-interest. Tennessee has a desperate need for democrats who can be distinguished from republicans...."

More at the this great blog.

9. Note how the Moonie Times adds quotes to his statement
"...particularly by Republicans who "lie" about the environment..."

It's a subtle thing, but I seriously doubt that Mr. Dean meant for those quotes to be there. They were added to push his words off as a minority opinion, or one that belonged to him alone.

Also note how they make sure to note that he looked 'tired', and that his 'primary message crashed in flames' - putting a frilly cover over the fact that what they were actually referring to is Mr. Dean's presidential bid, and carefully using words that can be linked to the speech they were 'reporting' on.

10. That is exactly what I meant...exactly.
The "tired" thing, and a couple of other statements that seem to be just the reporter's own interpretation.

Every story about him is that way, with little things snuck in. They must always call him the "failed" candidate in so many words.

Our media is truly amazing, and the Moonie times is more so.

13. They are upset that the truth came out about "the scream." And
I think now that he only gives local interviews upsets them also.

14. Ha Ha...look at this. Insulting. "Where's Deano?"
Dean? Not doctor or governor or chairman? Deano?

"Where's Deano?
For all the Democratic fretting that he'd be too high profile, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has steered clear of the spotlight since being elected Democratic National Committee chair in February. Dean has done just one interview with a national news outlet as DNC chair--a five-minute quickie with the Associated Press--and won't sit down with the national press for at least a few more weeks. Why the silent treatment? Because Dean is talking exclusively to local media in places where he's making appearances, as he did last week in Tennessee. "We're getting our message out," says a DNC source, "from the grass roots up."

they are not needed. It is killing them.
