Casting Angry Eye on Courts, Conservatives Prime for Bench-Clearing Brawl

a few days old but missed it earler. you can the term--liberal activist judges will be tossed around next week.

......Bob Stevenson, a spokesman for Dr. Frist, said it would be a mistake to connect the Schiavo case to the pending Senate fight, saying, "There is no link between the two."

Some Democrats believe that the Republican efforts in the Schiavo case could boomerang in the judicial debate, but most see the case as intensifying the interest of conservative activists.

"Honestly, if it weren't this case, it would be some other decision," said Nan Aron, founder of Alliance for Justice, a liberal group. "But certainly this case has stirred the passions of the right wing like no other case in the recent past, and it certainly would be their excuse to enthusiastically support George Bush's court-packing agenda."..........

By CARL HULSE and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

1. But,,,but...but
I thought republicans were dead set against "judicial activism" and want judges to just "follow the law, not make the law?" Silly me, I should have guessed that that was only meant for decisions they consider too "liberal." Judges are supposed to follow the law no matter what their personal and political beliefs, and that is what most of them do. That is why, even though some judges didn't want to remove Terri's feeding tube, they had no choice under the current laws.

interference of the Schiavo case get pissed enough to let their reps know when it comes time for vote on the whackjob conservative judges appointment game!!
