Pakistan ought to be PUNISHED for what they've done, not rewarded
with 2 dozen Nukular-capable F16's. Didn't they sell Nukular secrets to IRAN, and N.KOREA? And we're rewarding these bastards?

3. For repukes, creating war is a good thing.
You forget how twisted their thinking is. They hate us and our freedoms and want to use every excuse (war, drugs, terrorism, etc.) to take those freedoms from us. Giving F-16's to Pakistan could start a war, and the repukes are celebrating.

4. You forgot Libya, Saudi Arabia. They believe that their bomb is an
"Islamic Bomb" available to all Islamic countries. They think of India and Israel as their infidel enemies who possess nuclear weapons that must be countered.

of India is a minority overwhelmed by the Hindus.

25. Hey, deadparrot, Clinton was involved...but not in any way the repukes
would want to talk about.
In early 1994 the Clinton Administration initiated consultations with Congress concerning a proposed one-time sale of F-16 fighter aircraft to Pakistan. Delivery of the planes would be contingent on specific commitments from Pakistan regarding its nuclear program, including a verifiable cap on the production of fissile materials.

When Pakistan declined this proposal, in September 1995 the Clinton Administration proposed revisions to the Pressler Amendment to facilitate cooperation with Pakistan in areas such as combatting terrorism and furthering US commercial interests in Pakistan. The agreement broke down after Pakistan ignored the nuclear non-proliferation policy of the U.S. government and its allies, canceling military foreign sales to that country.

<snip>

President Bush formally lifted sanctions against India and Pakistan 22 September 2001 in a special memorandum to Secretary of State Colin Powell. The sanctions were imposed in response to the Indian and Pakistani nuclear weapons programs and testing. Powell said on NBC's "Meet the Press" September 23 that lifting these sanctions, which had been under consideration for some time, sends an important signal that "we will stand by our friends who stand by us."

If you read the whole history of this transaction it's been consistent since the Carter administration...Democrats were trying to pull Pakistan's teeth, the repukes were trying to arm Pakistan to the teeth.
The history flies in the face of their bushit talk about being tougher than us on terra.

Just noting how these whacks will always, always find a way to blame Clinton's penis, even in the most absurd situations.

10. It's unbelievable that we are dealing
with Pakistan in this way. Sounds like something out of an old James Bond movie with Pakistan playing the role of the island out in the middle of nowhere where an evil corporate dictatorship builds a store of weapons to dominate the world. Really strange. How is selling this stuff to Pakistan in our interest? Are we so desperate for money that we need to shore up such a heavy handed regime? Why aren't we supporting the great democracy in the area, India, which by the way is much more western in its values and, if the Bush administration wants to curry favor with the fundamentalist Christians, a larger Christian population? What is really behind this? What if Al Qaeda/Taliban types take over the government of Pakistan and the weapons to boot? Who is making these crazy decisions? Who is taking these huge risks with our security and wellbeing? Is anyone asking these questions? Can anyone answer them?

BTW, I mean "friendly" as in the government of said country supports us in our geopolitical efforts, even if huge sections of the population see us as Satan.

19. Because Musharraf will not cooperate unless we give him the F-16's
It is a pure and simple case of blackmail. And don't forget
Pakistan is one bullet away to the head of the dictator
Musharraf from falling in the hands of islamic extremists
who constitute the overwhelming majority of population.
