People Are Putting Their Selfish Religious Beliefs Over Terri's Wishes
I know these protesters in Florida, and others, might think that they're doing what God™ wants and what is best for Terri, but they seem detached from reality in the face of the litany of phases and all the legal wrangling this case has gone through.

It reveals their infantile nature that they're so ready to close themselves off from all reason, and justify their actions via "faith"; much like a child who sees the world through flights of fancy. Now they're talking about "rushing" the hospice, overrunning the police to give Terri food and water. Nevermind that she can't swallow, chew, or eat. :eyes: These are the same people who (I'm sure) would normally scream over "lawless" librul anti-war protesters. Hypocrites.

It's not about what God™ wants, it's about what they want. They are more than ready to supplant Terri's wish not to be kept alive by invasive artificial means, only to justify their selfishness. They couldn't care less about Terri, it's all about them, about what they want, so they can feel better themselves. They have no respect for the legal system when it is running counter to their own beliefs. Don't think it will stop here, these people would do the same over any of the "Culture of Life" issues. They're more than willing to take away your right, as a Gay American, to get married, because of what their God™ wants, more than ready to take away your right, as an American Woman, to get an abortion, because of what their God™ wants.

I guess we can't expect much more from these people, they've been doing it for thousands of years, and show no signs of stopping. x(

1. I also think they have no clue
how Terri is really existing. They have swallowed the bull that she can talk and is aware-and it is obvious that many think she can chew and swallow as well.

6. They ARE Clueless
In a discussion at work the other day, one person argued that Teri DIDN'T tell her husband she didn't want to be kept alive that way. They believe stuff like that because that's what they want to believe. It doesn't have to have any basis in reality.

2. It's the Son of Sam Syndrome.

Their beliefs make your rights as a human being conditional upon compliance with a evanescent dogma in which you have no say. It's the worst of theocracy and bears absolutely no resemblance to either democracy or republicanism.

3. they presume their religious doctrine is the law of the land
and they are so immersed in their dogmatic beliefs they assume that everybody falls under that doctrine or should. unbelievable. and, as pointed about in other threads, it's not just right wing fundies that think like this.

acting from religious beliefs. IMO they're delusional. They are totally off the deep end. Totally.

7. Incredible arrogance too...
They think they're "humble" but they are anything but. Most of us question whether we're doing the right thing when most people disagree with us. Instead they see themselves as superior to everyone else and are completely unconcerned with the costs to others of being wrong, because they are so certain they are right. It's pure, unbridled arrogance and lack of consideration for others.

8. and child abusers to boot...
just saw a report on CNN where these people have put their poor kids up to be arrested as "protestors." These children are too young to be able to think independently and most are too young to even comprehend what this situation involves. Family values apparently include mental abuse of children...

9. Lord have mercy
I would hate it if these nut jobs did this in my name. I feel awful about this. Btw, I live on the same road as the Hospice so it feels very real and intense to me. One reason (other than the testimony) I believe Terri would have hated this is that I've asked many people (because of my history of working with people who are pretty much dead) what would they want to happen should they be in a vegetative state. I swear to you, I've never once heard anyone say, "Well, I'd want to have a tube shoved through my gut, another through my throat, and, hey, I want to poop in those big Pampers and have someone such the mucus from my nose..."

God, have some compassion for the poor woman and let God do his job.

10. I saw on the news
that it's like a fundy protest circuit, the same faces again and again at Ten Commandments rallies, anti-abortion rallies, etc. And it seems like they *need* to be seen, *need* to yell louder, get more attention--it's like saying "Am I angry enough for you, Lord?"
