8. "Holy Hypocrites Batman!"
I think Tom DeLay will be very, very quiet about this now.

I hope the Freepers continue to show their idiocy by barking, "How dare you compare this man to Michael Schiavo just because in an almost identical situation he did exactly what he's saying Michael is a murderer for doing, um... the same way."

Morans.

Wow, what a concept! You want to actually read it and think about it before you send the e-mail.

21. It was an excellent article. I was too happy to send my thoughts...
Thank you for researching & writing about this story about the DeLay tragedy.

The mentality of this country is most worrisome. My take on the religious wackos with the rosary beads & crosses in hand is that they are easily led, misinformed, & that they are subconsciously earning their way to heaven through their extreme exhibitionist behavior.

Nineteen judges in six courts have come to the same conclusion: that Terri Schiavo would not want to live in a vegetative state. Appeals to the Supreme Court failed three times. This tells me the system has not only been thorough in this case; the system has worked.

Tom DeLay & other opportunistic Republicans have found yet another explosive issue to drive the wedge of division in this country even wider. This administration is so controlling, I believe it is strictly by design that this country is kept divided. If everyone focused on Bush's job performance as closely as they focused on Karl Rove's wag-the-dog bait, Bush's job security would be in trouble.

I feel as though we're in a nightmare; I just wish we could all awaken from it. Can this country even stand another four years of this 1600-ish atmosphere?

Check out this story about the Schiavo protesters' aggressive tactics:

Thanks again - I enjoyed & appreciated your article.

23. That Miami Herald article has a lot more detail
than what I had read about Larcenia Bullard.

...But instead of pushing Bullard to their side, the protesters' aggressive tactics pushed her away...

Bullard told her colleagues how one group of protesters, initially claiming they were staffers from Gov. Jeb Bush's office, bowed down to her and spoke in tongues in her office Monday. They called her "our Esther," referring to the Old Testament figure who saved the Jews from death.

...I didn't understand what they were saying.

"They lost my respect, one, because of the lies, and secondly because of the mean-spiritedness I have felt."

One group of protesters wouldn't leave her office. When she said she had to get something to eat, a man shouted she shouldn't get food if Schiavo can't.

16. What's so hilarious...
...is that they're all saying it's different because DeLay was on a ventillator. Do they really think that's going to fly? I mean, am I wrong here, or isn't the pro-life position that ventillator, feeding tube or whatever, you can't end a person's life? Are they now saying it's cool to stop any care that's more severe than a feeding tube?

to the talk at the Family Research Council, where DeLay spoke and then the group was urged by its leader to come out strong against any attacks against him by the "liberal syndicate on the left, that wants to take him out".

DeLay:

And let me just finish with this. This is exactly the issue that’s going on in America, of attacks against the conservative movement, against me and against many others. The point is, the other side has figured out how to win and defeat the conservative movement, and that is to go after people personally, charge them with frivolous charges, link that up with all these do-gooder organizations funded by George Soros, and then get the national media on their side. That whole syndicate that they have going on right now is for one purpose and one purpose only, and that’s to destroy the conservative movement. It’s to destroy conservative leaders, not just in elected office but leading. I mean, Ed Feulner of the Heritage Foundation was under attack in the National Journal. This is a huge, nationwide, concerted effort to destroy everything we believe in. You need to look at this, at what’s going on, and participate in fighting back. One way they stopped churches from getting into politics was Lyndon Johnson, who passed a law that said you couldn’t get into politics or you were going to lose your tax-exempt status because they were all opposed to him when he was running for President. That law we’re trying to repeal; it’s very difficult to do that. But the point is, when they knock out a leader, then no other leader will step forward for a while, because they don’t want to go through the same thing. If they go after and get a pastor, then other pastors shrink from what they should be doing. It forces Christians back into the church, and that’s what’s going on in America: “The world is too bad, I’m going to go get inside this building and I’m not going to play in the world.” That’s not what Christ asked us to do. And so they understand that, it is a political maneuver, and they are going to try to destroy the conservative movement, and we have to fight back.

Head of FRC:

I have been, for the eighteen months I’ve been here, and prior to that, back when I was even in the legislature in Louisiana, I came up with pastors, and met with congressman DeLay in his office many times. And I want you to know what he has told me consistently, and not just me but other leaders: top on his agenda, one of the reasons he’s worked to build a conservative majority, is that he wants to see abortion outlawed in America. He wants George Bush--

(applause)

You see the bulls-eye that that has created on him, as a result of saying that? He is number one enemy to the liberal syndicate on the left, that wants to take him out. So I challenge you to pray for him, to talk to your Republican members of Congress, who are part of the Republican team, to support their leader. I know the work this man is doing. I vouch for his work, I vouch for his character, and I urge you to stand with him and support him in the work that he’s doing for families, for life, for the unborn, here in our nation’s capital.

35. A spokesman for Delay said the cases were vastly different
Because Delay's dad was also on a ventilator, and Terri just needs food and water to survive.

Okay so a human needs food, water, and air to survive. Terri is 2 out of 3, and Delay's dad was 3 out of 3.

When Delay was saying his goodbyes, did he lean over his dad and remark, "Sorry, dad... Three strikes; you're out?"
