Gov. Bush in no-win Schiavo position

Some say he isn't doing enough, while others think he has overstepped his boundaries.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – He has been criticized before, even excoriated, but Gov. Jeb Bush now finds himself in a no-win situation as supporters condemn him for not doing enough - or doing too much - for a brain-damaged woman near death in a hospice bed half a state away.

Not long ago, the president's younger brother was lauded by Republicans across the spectrum for his philosophy of lowering taxes and downsizing government, not to mention his unabashed spirituality.

Now, he's being vilified by some for not flexing his executive muscle to prevent Terri Schiavo from dying. And he has been bashed by core Republicans who want to keep government out of citizens' personal lives.

Never mind that he may not have a legal leg to stand on in the drawn-out battle between Schiavo's husband and her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler. The Schindlers have fought for years in court to stop her feeding tube from being removed, as Michael Schiavo contends she would have wanted.

1. That's true and he has no one to blame but himself
Jeb stewing in his own juices is the only thing about this tragic affair that's fun to watch.

2. If the Dems had a brain, they'd do Swift Boat type ads in Fla
On ONE side, they'd piss off all the people who thought he'd over-stepped, and on the other, they'd piss off all the extremists with ads that said he promised and didn't deliver and is a chicken.

3. Unabashed spirituality.
And all my former fundie friends wonder why I want nothing to do with them.

On another note, if the Republicans are going to horn in on anybody's business, I hope it does come back to bite them in the ass.
