A Prayer

Welcoming the Rapture.

Imagine the world as it would be if today all of the true end time believers were in fact transported to heaven. Easter Sunday 2005, and The Blessed are all gone. The churches are empty, prayer books still on the seats. Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, Pat Robertson, the whole gang gone, and all of their faithful followers with them.

Our federal administration in Washington is decimated. George Bush is vanished. Dick Cheney: gone. Every cabinet member sadly missing. In Congress almost the entire House Republican delegation cannot be located, along with most of their Senate colleagues.

Around the world everywhere it is the same story. The True Believers are all gone, vanished, disappeared. Left are those who accepted rationalism, progress, humanism, enlightenment. Many of those left are church goers, they celebrate the holidays, the rituals, but they do so out of a sense of community or heritage, of culture, not out of fanatical belief in the irrational.

Oddly, it seems that God did not distinguish between Christians, Jews, and Moslems. Everywhere the worshipers of the One True God, the God of Jerusalem, Yaweh, are gone. Osama and George are together on the same journey.

Imagine.

I welcome the rapture. I pray for deliverance on this Easter Sunday, year 2005 of the Common Era. I pray for deliverance from irrationalism, from the cruel shackles of religious intolerance, from the growing endarkenment that threatens to envelope global civilization. I desperately hope that indeed all the True Believers will be granted their fondest wish, to be taken into the arms of The Lord. I pray for all of humanity, for all life on our mother planet, that this will happen, that it will happen now.

I don't pray and I don't belief. Who's to say your god is the one true god? But I will offer this:

Unfrotunately, the true beleiveres must NOT be praying enough for this to happen because it seems God will not answer their prayers.

I would like to see it come quickly so the rest of us can get to the job of fixing what is broken. Like EVERYTHING!
