Dr William Hammesfahr -Florida neurologist -Nobel Prize nominee??
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 03:54 PM by LiberalFighter
False
He was never nominated by a member of the selection committee or other authorized individual. He was nominated by a Rep. Mike Bilirakis (R-FL) without the proper credentials.

Dubious doctor touted as Nobel Prize nominee by Hannity, Scarborough

Florida Discipline File

He was disciplined by the state of Florida as follows:
Fined $2000
Pay almost $52,000 in administrative costs
Placed on Probation for 6 months
Required to be under supervision of another doctor
Perform 100 hours of community service

He engaged in false advertising regarding his treatment for strokes for financial gains.

Advertisments in Florida and Airlines
Using advanced technology, Dr Hammesfahr has developed a sophisticated method to help restore blood flow to the damaged areas of the brain after a stroke. With increased blood flow to these areas, the brain can heal.

Dr. Hammesfahr is the first physician to treat and successfully reverse the effects of stroke using vasodilators.

Daily KOS

Hammesfahr was the only one of the five selected doctors that stated that Terri's condition could be reversed.

  • Practitioners of natural sciences whom the Assembly may otherwise see fit to approach.

5. And where is the media
accountability on this? They didn't check credentials did they? They ought to all be fired. Bunch of hypocrits all of them. They had to be so 'fair and balanced' and let the liars speak for the fundies.

6. Another "Expert"
Another so-called expert called by the family to examine Mrs. Schiave and give an opinion was a Dr. William Greenfield. He was on Cooper's 360. I thought he looked questionable during the interview, so I looked him up on the website of the Floriday Medical Board and found that he has had to voluntarily surrender his medical license. He was an osteopath, and claimed to be a radiologist. Only a handful of radiologists ever treat living people, they read and interpret films and scans. He wouldn't meet the test as a medical expert in any state in this country, but he wasn't questioned in any way on the program.

Every time I see this guy, I can't help but think of Steve Martin.
