Freepers excuse sex offenders in their midst.
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 06:06 PM by jefferson_dem
Seems that a rather prominent fundie freako Florida protester - Scott Heldreth - is a registered sex offender.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1689485&mesg_id=1689485&page=

Not surprisingly, however, there is nary a mention in freeperland about this seamy connection.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?s=Scott+Heldreth&ok=Search&q=quick&m=all&o=score&SX=4247481f3f184f4c550a3766157e1148c502bd17

The knuckle-draggers over there are quite adamant about the need to "isolate" sex offenders from the rest of civilized society. How grande the irony that one was in their midst all the while? Guess scumbag Heldreth's "mission" outweighs scrutiny of his twisted, abusive past.

We MUST isolate sex offenders now

There is another Amber alert in Iowa, a 10 year old girl taken by a known sex offender. This is totally out of control people, Marth Stuart is wearing an ankle bracelet yet we expect sex offenders to voluntarily check in? America is failing to protect her young, children are dying horrible deaths, why doesn't the Lord just rain down calimity upon us, that is my prayer right now.

America, you are nothing if you do not protect your children, sex offenders recommit their crimes, we know it, they know, yet we let them free to work in our schools and stalk their prey. Lord, wake up the nation, rain fire down upon us.

President Bush can pass emergeny legislation to protect one live, and that not even the life of a child yet stands idol while evil stalks our nations children.

Agreed, anyone who commits anything more than the most minor sexual offense needs to be permanently segregated from society.

I was referring to the "missionary" status of the offender, in that he is seen as "doing the Lord's work" in FL. The double-entendre did come off as a bit too harsh, and not necessary, however.

3. Sort of off point IMO.
President chimp would probably burn alive every sex offender he could put his hands on because it would make such a great reality TV show w/ him as the emcee. Nothing wrong w/ that IMO, as long as the networks pay for it and not the taxpayer.

Why it's off-point is that Teri S. is not a sex offender. The equation is: blameless life=life worth saving, regardless of the life-holder's wishes because only god can take a life; yeah right. Vs. sex-offender whose life shouldn't be worth a nickle=not worth saving. Sorry, but I don't see them as being related. Nobody's saying it's either one or the other are they?

9. Spotlighting hypocrisy is never off-point.
The right-wing wants to make this a holy war, and they keep publicly claiming some bogus moral high ground in all issues.

Its got to get out that the RW foot soldiers in this mess are pretty damned far from pure and holy, and that they are covered up in the same shit as everyone else -- or worse. :grr:

have been answered unless you believe a bunch of nut cases proclaiming to have "faith" while preventing a woman from rising to touch the hand of God makes sense! Personally "calamity" (I bothered to spell check, BTW) is the perfect word to describe what is going on in front of that Hospice IMO!

I have a sexual offender in my area (i live in a suburban area) a few houses away and I cant even write a note saying I know of his presense and if he ever so much as looked my general direction my 2nd ammendment rights will be enacted without haste.
Its viewed a federal felony if I did that. With all these innocent kids getting killed and raped, I am the criminal if I make the known sexual offender aware of my intolerance of his disgusting and horrible preference of child desires.

This plague on our nation is just another outcome of the bleeding heart liberals on our courts who allow these scum to roam around attacking our children.

Instead they have refused to feed a defenseless disabled woman. The parallels are just astounding.

15. have never posted there
just couldn't do that to my computer.

Though - brief reads over there suggest that even if one did 'slip' this into their forum - it would be bounced and silenced very quickly.

Heck there were freeps that were going to protest on behalf of a gay male prostitute who hyped the military as part of his hooker marketing... because they perceived him to be "on the right side" and "attacked by liberals." Granted a sex offender with a minor is a bit more serious than a gay prostitute (who also lobs softballs to the president on the side...) - but without details about the offense(s) - I can't think that they would do anything but deny - and zap the information to a denial zone far far away.

This man does not represent the Pro Life movement, I believe you are mistaken.

However, people who would LOVE to destroy the pro-Life movement, or discredit it (an old communist trick, nazis even tried it in Germany) by attaching such a goon to the movement, or trying to stoke the fire on the internet, what not. Glad you aren't indulging in this yourself and joining all of us and are making every effort to separate this guy from the Movement to make it 100% pristine and blameless. Liberals and pro-Culture of Death people will LOVE this.

Sure people can change - however, I suppose that when it comes right down to it, we as conservatives have to expect higher standards when it comes to who represents us.

I mean, Randall Terry has obviously reprented for his adulterous indiscretions, but to have him out, representing us and demanding that others live up to his moral code, it smacks of hypocrisy...

Same with this guy - sure, he's found Christ and has, probably, been forgiven. However, to have him out and about in the media pointing out the evil in others, well, it makes us all look like "Do as I say, not as I do".

Does that make any sense whatsoever to you?

"Hello Pot, it's Kettle here..."

I think it's quite admirable how this guy has turned his life around for the past 13 years.

Okay, that was when he was 19.. if he was born in 1973, he is 32 now.

13 years have passed since.

So let me get this straight. This guy was a pro-murder, leftist evolutionist before jail, until he became a Christian; and now because he believes Life is precious, he also believes Terri Shiavo should be allowed a chance at it instead of being forcibly dehydrated and starved to death.

And his son just happens to be the boy who was arrested for trying to take Terri water.

Maybe someone can explain to me what I'm "supposed" to be outraged about.

I think it's safe to say most if not all of us here don't know the man personally, so none of us knows his motivations. As he is on the side of helping Terri, and since he's found Christ, I'd err on the side of his being well-intentioned.

To: cyborg; Howlin
If this is a serious conversation about the topic of who represents the pro life movement that is one thing. IF this is a thread to humiliate people who are agonizing over a topic, and whom the poster disagrees with- that is another all together.

And so now it is ok for people to be Judge and Jury on FR when discussing this man and his motives? We can speculate and gossip and smear a person who we know not much about? And do you all want to condone that?

I didn't say a thing about people using or not using their children before this and I am not about to now.

Beside that- I am under the impression that he is the legal guardian of that child. It is Guardians rule of law in FLA.

That is what is interesting to me about this thread.

Because of Bush's Texas law allowing hospitals to pull the plug on people who can't pay and the revelation DeLay pulled the plug on pops, Freepers now think it's okay to deny life saving treatment (anything besides feeding tubes) to people, even against the family's wishes if they can't pay.

I'm telling you, if we brought up the abortion story, these guys would all become pro-choice.
