5. I didn't 'bone up'.
Simply a typo. Aren't cannabis users allowed to make mistakes too?

8. Doesn't make me stupid
I prefer it to deadly alcohol, which promotes aggressiveness and violence.. but I bet he loves the booze.

12. I think drinkers like to get wasted out of their
minds.. whereas tokers like to get a nice easy feeling, get the munchies, and listen to music.

11. take a video and show us
I am not saying anything about smoking grass being wrong. But I have never seen a person high on grass who didn't act/speak "stupid". That's just my observation.

19. What about the pot smokers
that you failed to recognize?

If the way you identify people who are 'high on grass' is by looking for the ones who LOOK like stoners, then of course that's all you'll see. See?

20. Stupid people are stupid whether they are stoned or not
Smart people are still smart when they're stoned. I would recommend hanging out with more smart people and less stupid ones.

22. Try Lester Grinspoon's online anthology of
"just folks" who find marijuana, used judiciously, to play a big role in personal/interpersonal arts and spiritual development, etc.

Type his name and you should find the click-on in the first five choices: key phrase: "marijuana-uses." Then click on: "read."

Yes to the sweet music universe tapped into - 5GMen - and yes to the original poster searching for a more enlightened group of "stoner pals" - MeganM.

25. First, you must not observe many stoners...
I've had intense, deeply coherent conversations with many of them.

Second, your suggestion is somewhat risky in this propagandized country. You're not trying to get anyone busted, are you? ;)

18. Never been big on the "grasping the facts" thing either, eh?
Lobotomy, my ASS. How is it that I have a college degree and have held a job in telecommunications (satellite, to be precise) for the last five years with a "lobotomy"?

You are speaking from ignorance, or perhaps a pro-Drug War stance, but you clearly know DICK about marijuana.

21. Tuh-chee!!
I could go back to my hometown today and find about 5 guys I went to high school with who still live with their parents. The one thing these nearly 40 year old fellows have in common? They still smoke pot. And not just that, they also still talk about the same things we talked about 20 years ago. It's like the last two decades didn't even happen for them. Very eerie. Maybe herbal lobotomy was a bit harsh. Herbal embalming is probably more accurate.

Sorry. I'm pretty much anti-drug. Probably comes with having kids.

23. A lot of mercury in your hometown huh...
Just sayin'... Most of my friends smoke regularly, work in tech, and one of them has his parents living with him (screwed out of pension).

The results of your observational experiments concerning cannabis lovers of your region do not appear to be universal. I believe your subjects(and yourself as well perhaps) may have been exposed to something else while your brains were developing. Perhaps you should check the mercury and or lead levels present in your local environment. It is possible something else is responsible for your observations, your stupidity, and your friends. Certainly sounds at least as plausible as your theory of "Herbal Embalming".

27. Interesting
I have no doubt that lots of folks in the technical fields use pot. Anyone who has tried to find someone in IT capable of actually fixing a balky computer at work would know what I mean.

But here's a question: Why are marijuana users so damned touchy on the cognitive disabilities issue? Are they the victims of some form of discrimination? Or does this sensitivity have its origins elsewhere?

"Burnout is a constant theme of 1968. We've heard the refrain about 'tired radicals,' and the one about Yippies turning into yuppies. Even while appreciating the social movements from this time, Paul Berman, (who was a part of it all) admits, 'The uprisings proved amazingly unproductive in regard to conventional political or economic change.' The historian Alan Brinkley comments, 'The new radicals of 1968 never developed the organizational or institutional skills necessary for building an enduring movement.'" - Kevin Mattson in the new issue of The American Prospect. The theme of the article being that the 1960s were actually "the decade of the right's triumph."

24. Hey, guess what? You did it AGAIN.
I have a son, but thanks for AGAIN intimating that those of us who haven't swallowed the government's bullshit propaganda aren't able to function like those who have.

Here's a clue: I get touchy when maligned. You maligned all who have ever used marijuana in your first post. That was wrong, you KNOW it was wrong, and you'd better believe I'll call bullshit when I see it.

It's fine to be anti-drug, but it's not okay to spout uninformed opinions based on untruths. It's a simple fact that marijuana does not prevent people from functioning and doing quite well. Your friends are not the sole representative of cannabis users, period.

Frankly, I think you owe us all an apology, but I'd settle for you not maligning us again.

Good day.

6. Loretta is awesome!
I think that she will be able to wake this sleepy country up, and change these draconian laws which persecute cannabis users with jail terms which are more severe than child molesters and other viloent criminals receive.
