Do we really need Media Matters anymore?
I think it's a great site. Lots of good info.

But every time I visit the site, there are 70 or 80 stories about what fucking liars Bush/Cheney/Fox/O'Reilly/Hannity/Hume/etc. are.

And you go back the next day and there are more lies ... and then more lies on top of those lies the next day.

After a while you just want to scream, "NO MORE FUCKING LIES!"

And you assume that if Fox etc. say the sun will rise in the east tomorrow, they must be FUCKING LIARS!!!!!!

So why do we need Media Matters to back it all up with facts and stuff? Why not just assume that everything these assholes say is a FUCKING LIE!!!!!

</ end of rant >

1. I agree that can be annoying...
However there is one thing about them that I do like. The simple fact that they transcribe what El Drugbo says and they can catch his contradictions at a later time. This is a simple but highly effective tool......

5. Indeed.
This is the real value of MM. If they can manage to archive all their research in a easy to search format, it could prove to be a big help.

The Claim vs. Fact Database @ center for american progress is a good example.

17. History?
You're presuming that this information will still be 'available' sometime in the future. Webpages can be deleted, websites can be pulled down, servers can be unplugged. That's how it can just 'go away' and you cannot ever prove it ever existed! Electronic media is so easy to manipulate. Easy to 'rewrite history', whenever needed. HEY! That's 1984! That's DOUBLETHINK!

19. It is impossible to change the past
it is only possible to momentarily confuse people's perceptions of it. If I say 2+2=5, it does nothing to change the fact that it is 4. It is the same if everyone is mistaken as well.

Orwell was wrong about that.

2. I think they miss one big piece of the puzzle
They focus on the big network shows. But a whole lot of people get their news from local braodcasts.

WGN's morning news program in Chicago, for example, has a subtle conservative happy talk format.

4. Hell yes we need them.......
I go there everyday and email everyone that is on the bottom of the articles with a paste of what they did. I even do it for all FOX articles. Can't win the war in one day. I hope everyone who goes there does the same thing. Below is what I post on blogs and do at least twice a week.

Today's To-Do List

(1) Write pervert Bill O'Reilly. Remind him what a Dumb-ass Phone Sex Whanker he is.

Bill O’Reilly: oreilly@foxnews.com

(2) Write FOX and remind them how O'Reilly is a Dumb-ass Phone Sex Whanker.

FOX NEWS: Comments@foxnews.com

Damn, you're hard core!
LOL

OK, I suppose Media Matters' archives will be useful when the war crimes tribunal is convened in 2009.

18. Persistent
Don't know if hard core or damned persistent or true optimist. Don't think that 2009 will change anything. Cheney or Delay could be dictator by then. There may be no more 'voting' - unless you count Diebold 'confirmation' of the 'will of the people' to keep the Freepers in control, in perpetuity. Of course the 'people' counted are only those corporations and rich and powerful backing up this R craphole in office, etc.

6. Absolutely, Media MATTERS!!!
David Brock came out of the RW media -- he reached a revulsion point and converted to anti-RW media crap. He knows where the bodies are buried, so to speak, the tactics, etc.

He provides an incredible service to the entire country -- as his site becomes better known, more and more moderate people are finding their way to his site -- they are rebutting RW crap.

He's a hero.

7. That and he really pisses off RWers
because they know he knows their tricks. They call him a traitor and point out that he was once bought off but they fail to point out that it was one of their own who bought him off!!

9. Who bought him off?
Which one of their own bought him off? Just me wondering. I knew all about Mr. Brock being apart of them and all that but not that part. I'm really curious as to who it was.

8. I agree
I don't go there all the time but I like to pop in here and there. Plus David Brock is great. I'm glad he's on our side because he knows how they are having been on their side in the past. It's a very useful site and someday will be useful to bringing these people down (I hope).

21. I agree...
MM serves a terrific purpose in fact checking every dumb comment or ridiculous statement that the liars on the Right make. We need to have all of that catalogued to catch those hypocrites in one of their many lies and have proof to back up our claims.

MM is one of the most important counters we have to the crazy right wingers and their media, especially since it's not as if we have our own cable news network to balance this off. (Where is Al Gore's news network?)
