It's not enough for the Republicans to control the Executive and Legislative branches of government. They are desperately attacking the "out of control Judiciary" in an attempt to get public opinion swayed against the Judiciary.

Furthermore, the filibuster move is an attempt to control the Judiciary.

The Republicans seem so rabid and desperate to control EVERYTHING. They want full power over all branches of government--and they cannot stand it that they don't have this total power now.

What on earth are they planning to do with all of this power?

Why are they so vociferously attempting to have control over all branches of government?

Is it the abortion issue?

Do they plan massive changes?

Is it to further the PNAC agenda?

What is it with the Republicans?

Why are they so insistent on being in control of everything?

2. Fascism. Pure and Simple
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 01:59 AM by Heaven and Earth
More nationalism, more wars of conquest, continued use of cultural issues to reconcile the rich and the poor, uber-powerful all controlling central government, more corporate aggrandizement.

I think that sums it up quite nicely.

Forgot to add: more scapegoating minorities for society's ills. They would outlaw the Democratic Party, but what would be the point?

5. I'm not sure that they really want the judiciary
The GOP has controlled the House, Senate, and White House for 2 and 1/2 years now. So naturally, their fundie base is wondering why they haven't successfully turned this country into a theocracy yet. Rather than tell the truth, which is that they don't give two shits about abortion, gay marriage, or the pledge of allegiance, they find somebody to blame it on. They use the federal judiciary as the scapegoat for all that is wrong with the country.

If they actually do manage to get control of the federal judiciary, they will have a problem because they will have nobody to blame their failures on.
