Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez praised the Pope's opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in his tribute.

"We should ... remember he preached world peace. When the United States invaded Iraq, for example, John Paul II said it was an illegal and immoral act," said Chavez.

5. Chavez is the best hope for the poor and for Democracy
in the Americas. I don't know whether he will be able to stand up to
U.S. efforts to oust him. On one hand,it would appear that he has no chance. But, on the other, he's got some things going for him. (1) he's a tough and wily guy, (2) he's got lots of money, public support and (3) Venezuela is a huge a varied piece of real estate. He could put 100,000 of thousands of fighters in the jungle mountains that would take 50 years to defeat. After all, we haven't even been able to shutdown the insurgents in Iraq who didn't have many opportunities. Bush had better give it some though before he tries to pull an "Aristides" on Chavez. They ain't the same.

8. Because our so-called leaders in Congress are cowards
There's only a few, so very precious few, who have the balls to say so.

4. Yes, I like Chavez too.
He's not the least bit afraid to tell the truth about this adminstration!

I was hoping that someone would remind the world of this!

6. And don't forget, he's sharing the oil revenues with the poor
people and they appreciate it.

7. Quakerfriend: I'm not religious but I admire everything I've
heard about Quakerism. If I were religious, I'd probably want to be among the Friends, if they would have me.
