NPR bringing back "This I Believe", 1950's radio essays

I had never heard of it before, I guess I'm too young. But in the 50's it was very big, including radio, newspaper columns, and a best selling book.

During the early 1950's, Edward R Murrow began a project to air a series about the life philosophy of ordinary people. People from all walks of life read a 500 word essay about what motivated them, how they felt about the world, why they believed what they did. Some were very anti-war (Korea was going on), some spoke about how fear was driving politics (McCarthyism and anti-communism). There were some celebrities, but most were ordinary people.

I think this could be an excellent chance for DU'ers to get out our philosopies. We have some great writers here, we have some great ideas. Give it a look.
