Better start the counter-spin: CNN just reported that our Imperial President is making plans for a triumphal entry into Rome to attend the Pope's funeral-- the first president to ever do so. Think he will bring the elephants? Or maybe the Schindlers, riding the elephants.
Is there no limit to the hubris of the Chimperor? Of course there isn't. Bush will make the funeral about HIM. In Bushworld, the passing of John Paul II is just the mother of all opportunities to gain "traction" with Catholics, Hispanics, and Randall Terrorists in this country.

We know how our sycophantic media will cover his trip: "President Bush, the Man of Faith, honors the Pope with First Presidential Attendance at Papal Funeral." Bush will be quoted as commending the Pope for his "commitment to Life and Freedom, just like me!"

What will the Italians and the world press say? More importantly, will we hear it? When Bush had his papal audience in June, we heard almost nothing about...

the Pope's public chastisement of Bush for the war in Iraq and his reported private excoriation and dismay over Abu Graib.

more..............

Thousands protest bush visit in Italy...pope says war is wrong!

Tens of thousands of Italians protest bush visit

Tens of thousands of anti-war protesters have taken to the streets in Rome as US President George W Bush visits the Italian capital. Crowds of demonstrators shouting "No Bush, no war" marched through the city.

The protest came hours after Pope John Paul II reiterated his condemnation of the US-led war in Iraq in a meeting with Mr Bush at the Vatican.

Riot police fired some tear gas in the tense but mostly peaceful rallies, in which flares and fireworks were thrown.

Organisers say 150,000 people have turned out for the protest, while police put the figure at 25,000.

Your visit to Rome takes place at a moment of great concern for the continuing situation of grave unrest in the Middle East, both in Iraq and in the Holy Land

Transcript: Pope's address
'Pilgrim Pope' battles on
In his meeting at the Vatican, Mr Bush presented the Pope with the American Medal of Freedom, calling him a "son of Poland who became the Bishop of Rome and a hero of our time".

The Pope, who has Parkinson's Disease, struggled to speak clearly as he addressed the US president.

He reiterated the Vatican's opposition to the war in Iraq and said everyone wanted the situation to be normalised as quickly as possible "with the active participation of the international community and in particular the United Nations".

He added: "In the past few weeks other deplorable events have come to light which have troubled the civic and religious conscience of all, and made more difficult a serene and resolute commitment to shared human values: in the absence of such a commitment neither war nor terrorism will ever be overcome."

The Pope did, however, praised Mr Bush's "commitment to the promotion of moral values in American society, particularly with regard to respect for LIFE and the family".

****(not much life or family left after bush's genocide in Irag...the pope's condition, whatever that may be, seems to be worsening by the day)!!!!

7. It makes me sick . . .
The Pope himself told him the war was immoral and unChristian -- Warmonger

He "rushed home" to sign a constitution-busting bill created by his pal-in-slop Tom DeLay, who had done the same thing to his father -- Hypocrite

He presided over more executions than any governor -- ever -- and even mocked the death of one, in front of witnesses -- Sociopath

He doomed over 100,000 Iraqis, most of whom hadn't done a damn thing to anyone, because he had to prove his manhood to his daddy (don't kid yourself, that's the real reason he did it) -- Murderer

Isn't there something the Italian government, or the Vatican can do to keep this creep from defiling a sacred occasion?

9. Dems have been AWOL so far. Counter-spin? No such word in
the Dem political operations handbook, not even in the longest section of the book: "Bend and Grab: Approaches for Dealing with the GOP PR Machine."

13. He may not even be invited to attend!
Still haven't heard that he actually got an invitation, just that he's planning to "lead the delegation" to the funeral. What if he doesn't make the guest list? Hah!!!
