Every state needs an AG candidate like Jerry Brown to fight USA PATRIOT
Edited on Mon Apr-04-05 11:57 PM by genius
You can see his priorities on the front page of his website, www.jerrybrown.org

"Let me be clear. These are dangerous times. Our former U.S. attorney general declared whole classes of people outside the protection of law. Basic guarantees of the Fourth and Sixth Amendments are threatened. President Bush is under pressure to appease fundamentalists with Supreme Court appointees who will repeal Roe vs. Wade. As California’s attorney general, my commitment will be to defend—vigorously—our basic constitutional values. Long experience in state and local government prepares me for this kind of challenge."

If Jerry Brown makes AG in CA, we'll have a strong advocate against the Bush Regime. Other states should look for similar candidates with a strong history of integrity and standing up for their beliefs. If Congress takes away more of our rights, every citizen may have to look to their state to protect them from the Fourth Reich.

Jerry could restore integrity to our government and he's not afraid of the bad guys.

9. I love Jerry
Jerry Brown is one of my heroes also. He was my guy in 1992 and I was devastated when he didn't win. He is a good man with loads of integrity. I really do hope he wins.

Go Jerry!

10. I also voted for him for President.
After, he fights the Administration in California, maybe we can get him back into national politics - if not at the top of the ticket, then as VP.

11. 1992
I was living in NYC then but out of work and spending time in PA at the time of the NY state primaries...but made a trip back to the city for the day so I could vote for him in the primary. For a time there, I thought he could do it. Then Clinton took it. I was so angry about that Convention, which was held in NYC, that I went to Maine while it was going on to get away from it. I couldn't even bear to watch it on TV. It wasn't just 'cause my guy lost but because the Clinton folks tried to shut everyone else up. I've since gotten over a lot of my animosity toward Clinton for that but it had me mighty steamed at the time.

I remember listening to The Cure's "To Wish Impossible Things" over and over again after Jerry dropped out...."but now the sun shines cold
and all the sky is grey the stars are dimmed by clouds and tears
and all i wish is gone away".

I do love to see him on TV. He's so good..."Take Back America"....

3. When I worked in Sacramento for a State Senator,
I overheard quite a few conversations with Governor Jerry Brown. I was very impressed with his ethics and intellect, and would love to see him elected as Attorney General.

Too bad we can't clone the good ones and run them everywhere.

4. I think that's what people who have met him remember the most
His strong sense of ethics and honesty and his intellect. He and Kucinich would make a great team in 2008.

6. Those are qualities his opponent seems to be lacking.
I understand his Orange County opponent is having his campaign workers harrass Brown supporters in Orange County. I hope Brown is prepared for this guy.

5. A pretty nice blog there, too. Takes the repubs up on the different ways
that they approached the Baby Sun case versus the Schiavo case. I like it.

snip/
The very different treatment of Terri Schiavo in Florida from that of Sun Hudson in Texas raises questions about what principles are actually driving these actions:

1) A juridical right to life

2) Marital and family values requiring deference to the appropriate family member charged with end-of-life decisions

3) State authority versus federal, congressional or judicial decision making

4) Political exploitation of fundamentalist convictions

What do you think?

The President said: "This is a complex case with serious issues, but in extraordinary circumstances like this it is wise to always err on the side of life."

I think Wanda Hudson would agree.

8. As the VP candidate, he would add credibility to any ticket in 2008
It's too bad he's termed out as governor. Arnold wouldn't have a chance against Jerry.
