Santorum states he is going to the Pope's funeral even though he hasn't
been invited! According to the NY Times. I really hate these people. I wish some Catholic Dems were speaking out. Repeat after me' The Pope opposed the Iraq War" !
Lou Dobbs is the only person pushing that issue and he isn't either Catholic or Dem. Thank God for Lou, but it isn't enough. We are letting the Right preempt the Pope!
I hope that ass bite Bush is kicked in the teeth by the Italians. The Chutzpah he has in going to the papal funeral is beyond belief! I hope they spit on him!

1. This is the man who brought home the corpse of his wife's
miscarriage and made his kids hold it and pray over it before giving it over for burial. Don't be surprised if he takes a dive on the poor Pope's body. The man is a certifiable loon.

3. He may be able to find a patch to crash on at the soccer stadium
If you don't have a pal with an apartment, there ain't no room at the inn. The population of the city will double over the next few days!

It could be he's hoping to take Carter's slot (he hasn't confirmed yet). The US will have a set number of slots, and already the delegation is quite large, with most ex-Prez's and assorted pooh-bahs already on it. And if Santorum isn't on the delegate list, and assuming he can hitch a ride on AF1 or a support plane (cause he ain't getting a commercial ticket, there are none to be had!) he'll be squeezed between Mama Leone and Vinnie Sarducci out there in the square...well towards the back--it ain't like Sunday morning at St. Margaret's, wander in and have a seat!

What a putz!

.
Its always a toss-up to ascertain whether . . . a Roman Catholic politician is going to some Roman Catholic function merely because they want to make hay out of it, politically, or that they feel as if they must go in order to salve their Roman Catholic constituents.

However, this is Rick Santorum. THE Rick Santorum. He reeks of politics for the mere sense of politics. His level, as low as it can possibly go, has no boundaries. None. I'd venture that Rick-old-boy would go so far as jump into Pope John Paul II's coffin for a photo-op (with all due respect to Roman Catholics, no offense by me regarding the Pope intended)!

I must add, though, that such antics are not isolated w/i Roman Catholics. After all, it's been the Protestant religion-into-law rightwingnuts that have done, and lead the way, w/ their hateful spinnings during this political cycle of panderings. Admittedly, the Roman Catholic Church pulls in as a close second.

edited for typo.

7. I meant Dobbs wasn't Catholic, to my knowlege.
I am disgusted that Santorum calls himself Catholic and I am only a former Catholic. People like Santorum are why I am former!

see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1705967#1706934

Santorum is a party crasher and should be made to stand in the crowd like the regular people.

Did the duly elected President of the US stand on the stage for Bill Clinton's library dedication? No, he stood in the rain with the other Senators.

Santorum is a douche.
