10. That's what I've been saying every time I surf past the...
...Fable News Networks. "The Pope is still dead."

3. Best line of the day
Yesterday Randi Rhodes opened her show with,

"Did something happen to the Pope?"

It gets a funny reaction from people when you ask that. Kinda fun.

4. It will be all Pope, all the time until his interment
Then we may get a small break, but there will be another round when the Conclave starts, and if they come to a swift decision, we'll get a day or more of "New Pope" coverage.

If the new guy is anything other than an Italian, we may get even more coverage, and if the selectee is an African or Hispanic, the needle will spike and we'll get a ton of info.

12. I heard his condition had stabilized
I don't remember where that was. You'd think I would, with so little coverage the last week or so . . .

8. Screw That!

Let's turn the election of the next Pope into some kind of reality series. Various cardinals get voted out of the conclave until there's only one left. I see an international ratings bonanza!

Boston Rob is Catholic, isn't he?

or maybe he would change the rules?

16. I'm too busy working
though I found a little relief on Sci Fi.

It just amazes me how utterly overboard they go with every frigging story.

19. Which country?

I remember Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks from back in the day. By golly I think they were on our local FM rock station! That and Maria Muldaur, Cold Blood, Joy of Cooking, et al. Maybe you've heard of the now-legendary KFAT out of Gilroy-- there are compliations out now.

Check out KVMR in Nevada City, CA-- eclectic, non-corporatized community radio. www.kvmr.org-- maybe.

Anyway, that Hicks song and that line stayed with me-- useful for special occasions like this.

:hi:

Former President Ronald Reagan is still dead.

Seriously I can't decide whether or not this is worse than Reagan's funeral.
