I pledged $25 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC)
The DCCC cold-called me tonight asking for contribution pledges.

Just a small gripe - the telemarketer was really bad. I am always a little disappointed by how inept the Democrat's telemarketers always sound. I know it's just telemarketing, but I do wish they had a little more quality control. It would reflect better on the Democratic Party...maybe the Repug telemarketers sound crappy too.

But anyway, I pledged $25 for the 2006 campaigns. We need to start building now for 2006 - I've got big hopes for 2006....

We have got to pick up some seats and they are primed for it next year.

2. Just curious, did you get the phone call or a direct mail piece?
I've sent them small contributions several times from direct mail pieces, but this is the first telephone call I've ever received from DCCC.

3. Phone call. I received a cold call before the 2004 election and I
gave a little.

I'm not sure how I got on their list but I am a registered Dem so I would hope they are just calling all of us. Why not?

4. I made a monthly pledge to the DNC. I told them the only reason
I'm willing to do this is because Dean was elected chairman. They guy I talked to said he wasn't supposed to say this, but he felt the same way. Said he wouldn't have been on the phone with me if Dean hadn't gotten in. Anyway, I followed by stating that I will withdraw the pledge if they don't get very pro-active about computerized voting fraud.

9. I'd give to the Dems if (ughh) Lieberman was chairman...the alternative is
...to let the Repug neo-cons seize power completely unopposed.

We might be able to push the Democratic Party in a progressive direction...if we do not at least try, the Repugs will move the country in a rightward, regressive direction. At least with the Dems, we have a shot at making things better.

To default on supporting the Democrats, and trying to reform the party from within, is to enable and empower the Republicans. It is better to support a somewhat crappy Democratic party than to passively allow a truly shitty Republican party to run amok.

5. Hi, I got a cold call tonight ... someone reading a long-winded script
trying to get through it in a hurry. I'm hearing impaired and couldn't get half of it and told them I give online regularly... (which I do). I did come away believing it was a scam. Interesting to hear that it probably wasn't. I'm in the Los Angeles area.

Which Democratic organization called you?? I couldn't hear that, either.

6. The DCCC - Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
I'm not hearing imparied, but the the telemarketer was very poor. They should at least read the script slowly and try to make it understandable.

This was not a scam - they did not ask for a credit card or anything - they are going to send me a pledge card in the mail and I mail them back a check.

"you don't need to go through your spiel, I'll give $##".

edit to add: I paid by debit card and I have already received the confirmation "thank you" note from the DCCC in the mail. Ms. Pelosi thanked me.

8. I just got my call...
the caller was very intelligent and gracious - Once he asked for the donation and I agreed, he told me there was this really ridiculous spill he had to go through and to just bear with him. We laughed our way through it and then went through the cc information.

I must have been lucky.

10. The DNC called me twice in two days.
Each time I told them I'll hold off donating until I finally see results from the Dem leadership.

12. They called me and I said NO.
I figure that if you give to an org like the DSCC some of it may end up in the hands of DINOs like Zell Miller simply because they have a "D" behind their name. No thanks!

Any future political contributions I make will go to specific candidates whom I feel are worthy.
