AWOL....let's roll with it
Hume just served it up on a platter...trying to trap Clark

I think the thugs made a mistake putting this on the table.

This is now mainstream news...why don't we gather up all the info we have on this and send it off to journalists...bloggers etc and see if we can blow this open.

No matter who the nominee is...this is a good idea no?

1. You are exactly right
This is the time to write LTTEs about the issue. Bring up the reward that is posted for anyone who can verify Bush was at the base that year. (If no one knows what I'm talking about, I'll have to dig a bit for a reference link.)

2. It has to be more damaging than Clinton being a Rhodes Scholar
Bush, fortunate son, lands gig to get out of Vietnam. Can't hack it. Quits early.

that's why I think those trying to do Clark in on it might get an unexpected surprise.

26. If we were Freepers
or Rush fans, thousands of calls & letters would be going out.

We need to be just as loud & obnoxious as right wingers.

Brilliant, in fact. That's great tactical politics...political "judo," even. They throw something out there, go with it.

10. It was Jennings who asked the question, not Hume
Some here think Jennings brought the issue up to hurt Bush. I'm not sure if that's true or if he's just an asshole.

25. He's close friends with Hume
Hume worked for ABC for years, while Jennings was anchor.

And I have heard Hume talk about their great friendship.

12. I don't think Clark handled this well
But that being aside, I agree it will benefit all of our candidates to exploit the opportunity.

We should use it.

14. Right on.
People actually think this does Clark in?

Maybe this wasn't the plan, but if it was it was executed brilliantly!

AWOL is all over the news now, with no accompanying sound bite by Clark. He didn't even have to bring this up.

The only thing they have is Clark saying he hasn't looked into the matter, and that it is free country.

They may play this for a few days, but you can be sure Rove and company will be issuing the gag order soon.

I agree, this is going to backfire big time.

Excellent.

15. Chimpy would have preferred
that this issue not be raised again, doncha think?

Then again, it was past 8 pm, and he was having his milk and cookies before bedtime. He'll find out about it tomorrow, but not from the newspapers.

17. just checked that site
I guess some people like Begala and the Boston Globe have stuck their toes in the water...but the story has never broken out.

Clark did the right thing..unless he has proof he would get crucified for backing Moore up...he did defend him by saying he has a right to his opinion.

Lehane has to be on this now..it's right up his alley...

19. It is a lttle peculiar, don't you agree, that not one person has come...
forward to say that they served with George W Bush at that time?? Surely there would hve been at least one person that went out drinking and partying with him or snorted a line or two of coke??? But not one soul has said a word. It is easy to see why most thoughtful and rational people think he is lying out of his ass when he says he was doing his duty in Alabama...

22. There is someone, rather well known
His name is James Bath, part of the Texas Air National Guard who was suspended one month after George Jr.

This is the same James Bath that funneled money into George's oil company Arbusto with capital from Osama bin Laden's brother Salem bin Laden.

23. Clark did a masterful job with the question--I would fully support
this guy if he gets nominated, even though I'm a Deaniac.

They tried to get him with "guilt by association" and he just said, "look I don't care about it--here's what I care about."

But it would have been even better had he said, "if it's so 'reckless a charge' as you call it, why don't you and your media pals prove it false?"

That would have shut them up pretty fast.

an email to Jennings & Tweety.

I plan to write FOX...waste of time.

Also, Boston Globe reported this; maybe they could use some letters.

Contact anyone you can think of.
